LePage uses out-of-state contractor to build bridge across Roxanne Quimby’s land
Source: Portland Press Herald
Republican Gov. Paul LePage is rushing to install a Pennsylvania-built bridge across land owned by a Maine family that wants to donate 87,500 acres of private land to the National Park Service.
While local contractors in the economically-crippled Katahdin region say they couldve done the work, the state says it put out a bid request and local sources were not available.
The bridge is part of the LePage administrations $160,000 effort to re-establish a state right-of-way across land owned by Burts Bees founder Roxanne Quimby.
A state timber harvesting fund will pay for the bridge and rebuilding a logging road. LePage plans to use the right-of-way to log a 2,574-acre public state forest.

The Quimby Family wants to donate 88,000 acres and a $40 million endowment for a North Woods National Park/Monument.
LePew opposes this - this his his version of Monkey Wrenching - Tea Party style.
