Donald Trump Parts Ways With Corey Lewandowski, His Campaign Manager
By MAGGIE HABERMAN
JUNE 20, 2016
Donald J. Trump is parting ways with his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, a move that comes as the presumptive Republican nominee faces challenges as it moves toward the general election.
The Donald J. Trump Campaign for President, which has set a historic record in the Republican primary having received almost 14 million votes, has today announced that Corey Lewandowski will no longer be working with the campaign, the campaign spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, said in a statement. The campaign is grateful to Corey for his hard work and dedication and we wish him the best in the future.
Mr. Trump had faced increasing concerns from allies and donors, as well as his children, about his preparedness to pivot toward a general election while holding onto his slender team.

(9,893 posts)If Trump is to get first class Repug managers, he has to get past the convention.
The Romneyites and the big money are trying to get the Repug Rules Committee to change the convention rules so that the pledged Trump delegates (many of whom don't like trump) can abandon The Orange One on the first ballot and not on the second.
The head of the Repug rules committee is a Cruz nut job.
I think that the odds that Manafort gets The Orange One nominated is good. Manafort will go to the mattresses, but the Romneyites and big money will be reluctant to stoop to such plebeian tactics. If they oust Trump, they lose far too many votes for the undercard races in 2016 and for the future. They'd be happy to wait this out for Ryan in 2020.
I'd give Manafort an 80% chance.

(9,893 posts)And now we have chaos in some quarters with the Brexit vote.
Plus CNN is showing some sort of riot between right-wing extremists and left-wing extremists in Sacramento. The police seem to be MIA, and it is their job to keep things under control.
I remember 1968 which ended with the election of Richard Nixon, and this is just not looking good.

The great irony was that Hope wrote the statement given to the press on Lewandowski's firing.

As if Lewandowski was the problem and without him, Trump would be a stellar candidate.
Do you think this is how their conversations went
Lewandowski: Donald, we need to go after this judge. Its best we attack his ethnic background. That should solidify our base.
Trump: I don't know Cory, Judge Curiel is a respected member of the judiciary. I fear it unwise to attack such an esteemed individual, especially along racial lines. The Hispanic people are a proud, culturally diverse people that have made great contributions to this country.
Lewandowski: Damn it, Donald, grow some balls! Claim that he isn't able to properly do his job because his parents are from Mexico! Do it now!
Trump: Cory, need I remind you that The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen states that...
Lewandowski: Donald, so help me, if you don't attack this man for being Mexican....
Trump: Cory, please, put the knife down. As a man, I will do what I must, in order to protect the lives of my beloved wife and children. But I fear that we are opening a Pandora's Box which will take a generation to close. As the great Japanese philosopher Kitaro Nishida stated...
Lewandowski: Go! And be sure to spit a lot during your speech and throw out a lot of nonsensical word salad! Your Neanderthal supporters love that shit!

(3,072 posts)Seems like this is less of a well thought out strategic move and more of a another shoot-from-the-hip decision from Trump. People in the campaign say they have no idea what is going on and they don't know who is in charge of what anymore. It appears they have plunged themselves into further chaos.
