Trump questions Clinton’s religion
Source: The Hill
Donald Trump questioned Hillary Clintons commitment to her Christian faith on Tuesday, saying that little is known about her spiritual life even though shes been in the public eye for decades.
Speaking to a group of top social conservative evangelical Christian leaders at a gathering in New York City, Trump said, we don't know anything about Hillary in terms of religion.
Now, she's been in the public eye for years and years, and yet there's no there's nothing out there, Trump said. There's like nothing out there. It's going to be an extension of Obama but it's going to be worse, because with Obama you had your guard up. With Hillary you don't, and it's going to be worse.
The meeting was closed to the press but E.W. Webb, a faith leader on hand for the event, posted video of the remarks.

(525 posts)When I mention to people that Obama often references church and God guiding his policies and Clinton sometimes does the same + includes at least one God Bless America in just about every speech many simply refuse to believe I could be telling the truth.
I've also had a lot of people tell me, with zero sarcasm, that "politician X is incredibly brave to be so public about her/his Christian beliefs".
Total ignorance of how religion and politics actually works in this country.
So she must be a secret Muslim just like Obama!!!
This is almost identical to the stuff he said about Obama. No one remembered him during his childhood or in college!!!

She drew that tweet from a popular saying among Methodists: Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can, says Paul Kengor in his book God and Hillary Clinton.
As a girl, she was part of the guild that cleaned the altar at First United Methodist Church in Park Ridge, Ill. As a teen, she visited inner-city Chicago churches with the youth pastor, Don Jones, her spiritual mentor until his death in 2009. During her husbands presidency, the first family worshipped at Washingtons Foundry United Methodist Church, and this fall she spoke at the churchs 200th anniversary. Time magazine described her membership in a bipartisan womens prayer group organized by evangelicals.

He/she used a capital "G" which implies that their deity is the same, i.e., the Trinity of Christianity since both Secretary Clinton and Mr. Trump have said they're Christians. Were the intention to sarcastically refer to another all-powerful being, notadmbind would have used a lower-case "g" in spelling god.
But I could be wrong.

One spring Wednesday, a few months into the term, Senator Sam Brownbacks turn came to lead the group, and he rose intending to talk about a recent cancer scare. But as he stood before his colleagues Brownback spotted Clinton, and was overcome with the impulse to change the subject of his testimony. I came here today prepared to share about this experience in my life that has caused great suffering, the result of which has deepened my faith, Brownback said, according to someone who watched the scene unfold. But Im overcome now with only one thought. He confessed to having hated Clinton and having said derogatory things about her. Through God, he now recognized his sin. Then he turned to her and asked, Mrs. Clinton, will you forgive me? Clinton replied that she would, and that she appreciated the apology.
It was an extraordinary moment, the member told me.
Senate Republicans asked Hillary for forgivness for hating her when she joined this prayer group. Whether genuine or not, Hillary's far more qualified in personal religious matters than Creep Trump. I can't think of a time when he went to church.

"Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor man" (James 2:5-6).
Showing favoritism to the rich is inconsistent with Gods choice of the poor.
Wealth and poverty are not necessarily spiritual issues. Many wealthy people are godly Christians and many poor people are unbelievers. But generally speaking, God has chosen poor people to populate His kingdom. Jesus said, "It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easer for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matt. 19:23-24). That's because rich people tend to be bound to this world and have a false sense of security. Many of them not only reject Christ, but also persecute believers (cf. James 2:6-7).
Regardless of your financial status, if you love God, you are rich in faith and an heir of His kingdom (James 2:5). That means you're saved and will inherit the fullness of your salvation and the richness of God's eternal blessing. That's a marvelous truth!
Don't let riches cloud your good judgment. God expects Christians to honor and care for their poorer brothers and sisters in Christ. You can't do that if you're showing partiality to the rich.
Suggestions for Prayer
If God has blessed you with more resources than you need, be grateful and ready always to share with those in need (1 Tim. 6:19). If you struggle to get by, thank Him for what He does provide and for teaching you greater dependence on Him.
For Further Study
Read 1 Timothy 6:6-19.
What is God's standard of contentment? What pitfalls await those who desire wealth? What constitutes true riches?
Trump should read James 2.
Republicans generally don't have a clue about Jesus.

Truly I tell you, they already have their reward. 6But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.
"
Kind of insulting to Pagans, but I think it's pretty clear how this applies to Trump and his evangelical "friends". I'm an atheist, but calling out someone as un-Christian for not being agressively public about their religion seems pretty un-Christian itself, from what I recall.
