Former attorneys general oppose McAuliffe order on rights
Updated 5:20 pm, Tuesday, June 21, 2016
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Three former Virginia attorneys general have filed a brief opposing Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe's blanket restoration of voting and other rights for ex-felons.
The brief recently filed with the Virginia Supreme Court said McAuliffe's April restoration of rights for more than 200,000 ex-felons "undermines the rule of law."
The brief was filed by Ken Cuccinelli, who ran against McAuliffe in 2013; Jim Gilmore, who also served as governor and sought the Republican presidential nomination this year; and Andrew Miller, a conservative Democrat.
A bipartisan group of state prosecutors has also filed a brief opposing the governor's order.

(182,763 posts)Gilmore - I was told by someone who knew people who worked for him as Governor. This source is a traditional Virginia type Republican. Gilmore was the dumbest Governor. He could never understand that we have a biennial budget. He couldn't get that the numbers were for a two-year period.
