O'Malley to headline Clinton campaign events in Iowa

Source: Des Moines Register

Martin O’Malley is returning to Iowa this week to campaign for his former presidential rival, Hillary Clinton.

O’Malley, the former Maryland governor who finished a distant third in Iowa’s first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses in February, will visit campaign offices in Des Moines on Thursday and Sioux City on Friday to campaign for Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

He’ll lead a phone bank at Iowa Democratic Party headquarters in Des Moines at 5 p.m. Thursday, followed by an “organizing event” at the Clinton campaign’s Sioux City field office at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

O’Malley is traveling through Iowa this week on his way to a speaking gig at the South Dakota Democratic Party’s state convention, and previously announced an informal meet-and-greet with supporters and former campaign aides on Thursday in Des Moines.

Less than 5 and a half months to go...glad to see them getting up and running.

.............O’Malley is traveling through Iowa this week on his way to a speaking gig at the South Dakota Democratic Party’s state convention, and previously announced an informal meet-and-greet with supporters and former campaign aides on Thursday in Des Moines.

Still, the appearances represent the Clinton campaign’s first general-election events in Iowa featuring a national surrogate.

I've always liked Martin O'Malley. (If he'd been the nominee, it would have been fun to see "Vote for MOM" bumper stickers and signs.)

to defeat the GOP. For all that's gone wrong politically this season, the Democratic ticket offers Americans very good choices.

Thanks, Brooklynite. I loved reading that O'Malley's out there. Hopefully, this next administration will offer him a really good challenge.

The moral strengths and the structural weaknesses of the Democratic Party are encompassed in the "Big tent" philosophy. This is a example of strength right here.

O'Malley was my governor and he did a lot for Maryland. He was actually my second choice in the primaries; if Hillary hadn't run I would have been proud to support him.

I too think he'll play an important role in the Clinton administration, whether as VP or as a Cabinet member.

Of course he would get on board. I hope he has a bright future with our party and has a leadership position well into the future.
