Istanbul blasts a reminder for US not to retreat from Middle East: Hillary Clinton
Source: The Indian Express
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has said the terror attack in Turkey is a reminder that the US cant retreat from this part of the world and needs to deepen co-operation with allies in the Middle East and Europe to take on this threat.
Todays attack in Istanbul only strengthens our resolve to defeat the forces of terrorism and radical jihadism around the world. And it reminds us that the United States cannot retreat, Clinton said in a statement yesterday.
We must deepen our cooperation with our allies and partners in the Middle East and Europe to take on this threat, she said adding that such cooperation is essential to protecting homeland and keeping the country safe.

(23 posts)As Democrats, we need to recognize this and support Hillary and her judgement when it come to military intervention.

(582 posts)free pass to initiate military intervention when and wherever she wishes, and that the rest of us should just shut up and get behind it, no matter what? Seriously!? Because I literally can't believe I just read that. Why would you give ANYBODY that? What if her judgment sucks? What if she's wrong?
By prefacing your statement with "in the world we live in today, military intervention is inevitable" even sounds like nothing more than preemptive conditioning to prepare the rest of us for a shitload of military invention. Which is what we'll get if she becomes CinC.
I hereby assert that I won't support any military intervention anywhere if it doesn't pass the smell test. I don't care who orders it. I won't be the Good German, not for Hillary Clinton or anybody else.

(23,386 posts)I do not support her judgment if she would opt to intervene on behalf of Islamist insurgents in Syria.

(4,229 posts)We know Clinton is a hawk but I'm not sure I'd read that as an endorsement of sending more US troops in.
I'd see it more as a political statement designed to blunt any over the top rhetoric Trump might throw here way.
We don't really know how Clinton will proceed foreign policy wise. Past history would seem to suggest she favors more US involvement than Obama, but on the other hand I think as SOS maybe she sees the limits of US power and won't be so quick to reach for the gun so to speak.

(582 posts)fault Clinton hasor maybe i should say her biggest oneis that she has shown repeatedly that she doesn't learn from her mistakes.

(4,229 posts)She sure moved to the left when Sanders started gaining on her and I don't thing she'd be palling around with Elizabeth Warren if she hadn't realized which way the wind blows.....

More likely she will be about as good as Obama on domestic policy and more hawkish on foreign policy

(582 posts)progressive-left stuff she started saying during the primaries? She didn't mean a damn word of it. She'll snap back to the right again before they've even swept up the confetti from the convention floor. I GUARANTEE it. That's who she is.
