Talks continue as Atlantic City casino strike deadline nears

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — With Atlantic City's lucrative July 4th holiday weekend fast approaching, the struggling seaside gambling resort is trying to avoid a strike against five of its eight casinos.
Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union is threatening a strike Friday against Bally's, Harrah's, Caesars, Tropicana and the Trump Taj Mahal unless a new contract is reached before then.
An exact time for a walkout has not been determined.
Talks were expected to continue late into the night Wednesday, and additional negotiations are scheduled for Thursday.
