(CNN) Bernie Sanders has assured Vice President Joe Biden that he'll eventually endorse his Democratic primary rival Hillary Clinton, Biden told an interviewer Thursday. But the Vermont senator quickly pushed back, saying, "We're not there quite yet."
"Oh, I've talked to Bernie, Bernie's going to endorse her, this is going to work out," Biden told National Public Radio in an interview for "Weekend Edition" that will air on Sunday. A portion of the interview was released Thursday evening.
"The Democrats are coalescing even before this occurs," he added.

(35,619 posts)...about doing more regarding health care and tuition before endorsing.
Biden is making that less likely by publicizing Sanders privately saying he'll endorse.
Biden's move is bad for people who are uninsured or can't afford college.

(10,336 posts)This may be a bumpy ride. I watched some tv this evening, and I can honestly say there is no telling what this cycle my yet hold for us. It just now mid-summer. We've got several months to get through yet. I am hopeful, and committed, but we can't be complacent. One show had a pundit on talking about the return of Reagan Democrats this cycle...which horrifies me, but doesn't surprise me. I do hope he was way off base.

(5,402 posts)The primary exposed to many Democrats an image of the party that left many of us in sullen despair.
The failure to stand against the TPP along with the weak support for a $15 minimum wage, healthcare and college tuition in the platform just went further to showing the half-measures and lack of vision on our side.
People crow about how easy it will be to beat Trump, but I'd bet a 6-pack that internal polling shows an apathetic and depressed Democratic base. Sure, most people have a worse negative view of the GOP bully boy, but the support on the D side for Hillary is pretty shallow. We are facing low turnout, and even though the Cheeto Jesus is embarrassing to the GOP leadership, ALL of his supporters will come out to vote, either for Herr Orange Scheiße Haar, or against Mrs. Clinton.
Bad weather will keep more of us home than a snowstorm will suppress his rabid bizarro mob.
The best chance Clinton has is if Bernie starts blowing the whistle and for Warren to hitch her car to the train. And even then, it's going to be a roller coaster for the next four months.
