Republican National Convention: It’s Official, Trump Is The GOP Nominee
Source: Washington Post
By Karen Tumulty, Robert Costa and David A. Fahrenthold July 19 at 7:13 PM CLEVELAND —Donald Trump was formally nominated for the presidency by Republican delegates here on Tuesday night, a landmark moment in American political history that capped the business mogul’s surprising conquest of the GOP. Trump formally reached the threshold of 1,237 delegates at 7:12 p.m. Eastern time, with votes cast by delegates from his home state of New York. Trump’s clinching votes were cast by his own son, Donald Trump Jr., who spoke for the New York delegation. “It is my honor to be able to throw Donald Trump over the top in the delegate count tonight,” he said. “Congratulations, Dad, we love you!” Read more: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/republican-national-convention-scrutiny-of-melania-trumps-speech-follows-plagiarism-allegations/2016/07/19/3efc4208-4da4-11e6-a7d8-13d06b37f256_story.html Hillary Clinton ✔ @HillaryClinton Donald Trump just became the Republican nominee. 6. Jeb Bu$h announced today he will not be voting for POTUS in the election.
I am gonna enjoy the demolition derby politics, especially from the Bush Crime Family.

7. Fantastic news for Democrats!
There's one major race that can be counted on in our column.
Allows the focus to be spent on House/Senate seats... Thanks, Don! |

11. I remember the escalator he rode down
when first announcing his run. Cheesiest thing I ever saw in presidential politics.
There were like 14 paid extras that made up the "crowd" he descended into. Lol |

20. Chained to the boat anchor.
An actual neoFascist winning the nomination fully demonstrates that Republicans have completely disconnected from the Americans who fought to contain the same political movement in World War II, that their doubletalk about "freedom" actually means total support for inequality, and that their love for America is ultimately a naked expression of un-patriotic hatred.
But here's the thing: we already crushed Fascism once, we already fended off a fascist coup attempt (see Smedley Butler), and we just overwhelmed the use of fear and hatred and bigotry in politics, twice. We know what they are, and we know how to deal with them. Our new Nazis may be blissfully unaware of themselves but we are not. This is an opportunity to take advantage of the Republican Party's loss of sophistication and pull away the very seat of their power. And all we have to do is vote. |
