Morning Joe begs Republicans to rescind their Trump endorsements: ‘You’ve got to cut him loose’
Source: RawStory
Even though Morning Joe has spent a lot of time going back and forth on Donald Trumps supposed virtues as a candidate, it seems that host Joe Scarborough may have finally reached a breaking point.
In the wake of Thursday nights Democratic National Convention speeches in which Trump was completely savaged from every angle Scarborough told Republicans on Friday that the time has come to start rescinding their Trump endorsements.
The center cannot hold when you have the Speaker of the House calling the Republican nominee a racist, but saying hes still endorsing, he said. When you have the most powerful Republican in government, the Speaker of the House, saying What he said is racist; when you have the most powerful Republican in government, the Speaker of the House, condemning Donald Trump for his laudatory, his continued laudatory remarks on Vladimir Putin
Thank you Republican leaders in Washington, thats who youre endorsing.
While it would be difficult to explain to their constituents why theyre un-endorsing Trump, Scarborough urged them to simply tell them the truth and explain that hes unfit for office.

(54,770 posts)heck out of him and put in a new huy or even Pence at last minute. I cannot imagine they will go to the line with Trump, no matter how racist and ignorant his supporters are. I know logistics would be tough, but Trump would embarrass the KKK.

(290 posts)They'd use some super obscure rule no one's ever heard of, or just straight up say, "You won, but no, you're not running on our ticket." I'm frankly shocked they didn't do it, because now he's the albatross around their neck. The Republican movers and shakers who endorsed him have tied their bootlaces to the railing of the Titanic. He'll drag every one of them down with him. I have at least a modicum of respect for those Republicans and/or conservatives who wanted no part of Trump from the word go.
Would've been super interesting if they'd dumped him, too. His frothing supporters would have howled, and he'd have started the Orange Party to run as an independent. And of course, that would split the vote on the right side of the aisle, and Hillary would already be deciding how she wants to decorate the Oval Office.
Then again, she pretty much already is deciding that, so I guess it's six to one and one half dozen to the other.

If there is a 4 year do nothing congress, working against the first woman president..... we may lose the white house for several election cycles. GOTV FROM PRESIDENT TO ALL DOWN BALLOT RACES......

(9,000 posts)They will decide to cut their loses and replace him with Pence. Still bad for them but they can gain some control. The problem is how to do it and keep his base. Trump will have to leave on his own accord whether it be health as an excuse (all that shortness of breadth the other day), or threatening him with some sort of back door legal action that will ruin him if he doesn't. If he leaves on his own his ego will still be intact and he could say he would have won if he could have stayed in.
Caveat..LOL..this from a guy who thought that he never really wanted the job.

He has Big Boy on and our Gov Walker and they practically sit on his lap. Barnackle and Willie and Nicole"giggles" Wallace are his stooges. He slaps anyone else around. Donnie Duetsch once challenged him and he blew a gasket, ditto Lawrence O'Donnell.

(43,364 posts)that the Main Street element of the GOP - small shopkeepers, mom's and
pop's, small city business men and manufacturers had their roots in America
about 1900-1940. Yes they were conservative, they opposed socialism,
supported the Red Scare but also supported workers patriotically. The
National Civic Federation was such a group, and even the National Urban
League was founded in 1910. This was the Progressive Era. Many small town
associations and fraternal groups arose during the same period.
By embracing progressives HRC is embracing this "do-gooder" portion of
the Republican Party as well as traditional liberals of the Democratic
bent. If she can get this luxury liner fully booked at full speed, it has
potential to be a watershed election and a train wreck for Trump and the
Wall Street/Supply Side tax cut wing of the GOP.

More viewers from covering the dumpster fire as a dumpster fire than pretending the election is a celebrity chef cooking contest.

Don't want to get down on you for trying, but the most you're doing, in their mind, is identifying your political views in writing and all that could come of that for them.
Still humorous though, your educating of Paul.

I would even go so far as to suggest it's long past time that alleged conservatives like Joe strongly consider un-endorsing the republican party as a whole. It reflects poorly on them. After all, Donald Trump is the reaping of sentiments the republican party has long sown.

It's ingrained in their DNA, as they don't see themselves as supporting a racist me-monster. They only know what makes them feel good about what they see and hear on RW TV and radio, that they must support the republican savior.

Trump is unfit based on his lack of experience and his personality. That his personality turns out to be more repulsive than we thought isn't really relevant.
