Talks between GE Transportation, union fail to reach deal

Source: Lewistown Sentinel-AP

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Talks between GE Transportation and a union have failed to reach agreement on reducing the number of jobs the company plans to cut at its locomotive plant in in northwestern Pennsylvania.

GE Transportation says it will transfer up to 190 jobs to other facilities and Erie-area companies.

The Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/2a9cC5L ) reports that the union rejected an offer to agree to a transfer of 122 workers, reduce the number of job classifications and agree to unpaid lunch and elimination of piecework.

The company also wants new employees and those called back to work paid about 40 percent less than current employees.

A little more at link.
