Giuliani: McCain Commented on Khans For His Re-Election
Source: TDB/The Washington Post
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Monday that John McCain only criticized Donald Trump for his comments about a gold star family because of the Arizona senators re-election bid. I think youre hearing a guy whos worried about whether he can be reelected in Arizona, Giuliani told The Washington Post. John wouldnt be saying this if he were running two years from now. Hed just keep his mouth shut. McCain released a lengthy statement earlier Monday in which he lambasted Trump for defaming Khizr and Ghazala Khan, who spoke last week at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia and whose son was killed in Iraq in 2004. While our party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us, McCain said in part.

when he said these nasty things. Makes you wonder, no?

(442 posts)respect for John McCain. He let Bush slam his family in the 2000 election. His decency surfaced when he defended President Obama in a town hall meeting. Having done that though . . . John should be willing to go down with his principles in tack. He should stand up for Vets . . . Always and everywhere. I would think he would rather loose and not represent a state like AZ than keep quiet for a man like Drumpf! His daughter Meghann should stand up for her father as well and turn her back on the RNC. The grand daughter had more gumpshion than the both of them!

change the subject and move on. And the Trumpians dig in further.
Don't bash Gold Star families. It's that simple. GOP politicians
are in a panic because Trump's and his surrogates' comments
are beyond the pale.

(102 posts)McCain IS only bucking Trump because he's worried about losing his cushy job. EVERY Republican Senator who has actually opposed Trump's attacks on the Kahns is in a serious fight for re-election.
Republican Senators in safe seats, or not up this cycle, ain't said shit.

(54,014 posts)If your party nominates a trainwreck, I can understand a little bit of trying to stay above the fray. But when a man attacks the grieving parents of an American military hero, the silence of all those Republicans shouts volumes about the choices most Republicans are making between party and country.
