Georgia officer shot dead while responding to call

Source: CNN

State police have named a suspect -- 24-year-old Royheem Deeds -- in the shooting death of a central Georgia police officer. They said Deeds is considered armed and dangerous.

About 9:30 p.m. Saturday, officer Tim Smith responded to a Dodge County 911 call reporting a suspicious person at an intersection in Eastman, a town of 5,000 about an hour's drive southeast of Macon.
"Officer Smith arrived in the area and encountered an individual. Officer Smith exited his patrol car to investigate and was shot by the individual. Officer Smith returned gunfire and the individual fled the scene," a Georgia Bureau of Investigation news release said.
Smith had been with Eastman police for more than five years, the GBI said.

6. It's just like I said on that thread you're referring to.

I've seen, right here on DU, hateful and prejudicial statements directed at the police, with nary a peep of condemnation in response. By contrast, if you replaced "the police" with just about any other group, the post would be deleted and the poster banned immediately, and the post would be rightfully condemned by other DUers.

But it's okay if hate and prejudice are directed at police officers, apparently. Hell, in the other thread you referred to, I pointed it out to another poster, and in their response they didn't even deign to acknowledge it.

I've always believed that hate and prejudice are wrong no matter which group is the target.

No doubt, you'll explain to us what we are to be concerned with and which threads to reply to; else without the alleged moral absolutism, we may find ourselves concerned with something you disapprove of.

Faux outrage about a cop shooting a person, even though the person was armed.
Little outrage about a cop, doing nothing wrong, getting shot as he gets out of his car.
