Twitter, Bloomberg to Stream Debates, in Effort to Reach ‘Cord-Cutting’ Audience
Source: Wall Street Journal
Twitter is joining Bloomberg Television to stream online the presidential and vice presidential debates, expanding the options available to the growing audience of voters who would rather watch on a digital platform than a television.
The debates will stream at debates.twitter.com, in the Twitter Moments tab that compiles top tweets and news on the social network, and on Bloombergs @bpolitics Twitter account. No Twitter account is necessary. The first 90-minute debate between Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton is Monday at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.
In addition to Bloombergs presentation of the three presidential debates and the vice presidential debate, the partnership will stream Bloomberg Politics programming for 30 minutes before and after. The agreement is an expansion of the partnership Twitter and Bloomberg Media announced in July to stream select Bloomberg Television programs.
Twitter and Bloomberg will share the revenue from advertising in the live stream before and after the debate, a Twitter spokesman said. There are no commercials during the debate.

(322 posts)Now considering how cheap smart tv's are today and the prevalence of said streaming many people will be watching this on their tv.

It's Monday, right? I don't see it listed. This site says it will be broadcast:

I get my TV over the air. Some sets use a set-top converter box to convert from a digital to an NTSC (analog) signal, while my two newest TVs have ATSC (digital) tuners.
