Pakistan fury after India conducts military strikes on Kashmir border

Source: The Telegraph

India said on Thursday it had launched military strikes on "terrorists" across the de facto border into Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, an unprecedented move that would mark a major escalation between the two nuclear powers.

The strikes late on Wednesday night were in direct response to a recent attack on India’s Uri army base, which left 18 soldiers dead and was blamed on Pakistan-backed militants, Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh, India’s head of army operations, told reporters.

“Surgical strikes” on suspected terrorist “launch pads” in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir were designed to thwart further terrorist incursions, and caused “significant casualties” to terrorists and “those who are trying to support them”, he said.

New Delhi frequently accuses Islamabad of supporting anti-Indian militant groups.

Kashmir attack: India 'launches strikes against militants'
Source: BBC

India's army says it has carried out "surgical strikes" against suspected militants along the de-facto border with Pakistan in Kashmir.

The operation was aimed at preventing attacks being planned by Pakistan-based militants, a senior army official said.

He said "significant casualties have been caused to the terrorists and those who are trying to support them".

Pakistan denies India carried out any strikes and says two of its soldiers were killed in cross-border shelling.

Kashmir dispute: Two Pakistani soldiers killed after clashes with India

(CNN)Two Pakistani soldiers were killed after an exchange of fire with Indian troops across the de-facto border between the two countries in the disputed region of Kashmir, Pakistan's military said.

The Indian army said it had conducted "surgical attacks" along the disputed border, known as the Line of Control, to foil a "terrorist attack," according to India's Director General of Military Operations.

Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh told reporters on Thursday the strikes had been based on "specific and credible information" that militants were planning to carry out strikes in Indian cities, including Jammu.

"The operations were basically focused to ensure that these terrorists do not succeed in their design of infiltration and carrying out destruction and endangering the lives of citizens in our country," he said.

and war is inevitable. Military actions are marginally better than the mobs killing civilians recently on suspicion of eating beef or similar nonsense.

The worst part of this is that anyone who speaks out against it will be branded a terrorist and subjected to punishments that our Republicans can only fantasize about doing to liberal activists.
