Top Trump Aide Doesn't Deny Report Trump Company Spent Money In Cuba
Source: Talking Points Memo
In an appearance on "The View" Thursday morning, Donald Trump's campaign manager insisted that a report alleging one of his companies broke the Cuban trade embargo in 1998 does not mean that the candidate had been treasonous. But she did say they paid money, as I understand from the story, they paid money in 1998," referring to the story published by Newsweek hours earlier.
The question is: Did he spend money? Hes very critical of Cuba, hes very critical of Castro, and hes been critical, Kellyanne Conway said. He gave a speech the very next year to the Cuban-American National foundation of Miami critical of those who want to do business with Castro, and hes talked about the Cuban Embargo even on this campaign trail.
But again, were talking about, Did his hotel invest money in 1998 in Cuba? No, she continued.
Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts paid at least $68,000 to a consulting firm called called Seven Arrows Investment and Development Corp., which sent consultants to Cuba for the purposes of "giving Trumps company a foothold should Washington loosen or lift the trade restrictions on the Communist country, according to the investigation from Newsweek's Kurt Eichenwald. Seven Arrows advised Trump Hotels to mask the consulting bill as a charitable expense, according to the report.

(36,437 posts)The consulting firm suggested that they funnel the pay-offs through the Catholic charity Caritas Cuba in order to obscure the fact that they were directly spending money for illegal business purposes on the island.
Whether they even bothered to engage in this slimey behavior rather than just saying "Fuck it, whatever!" is not clear in the article. The general rule, of course, when it comes to Trump, is to always select the stupider of two choices.

Anybody know whether this Russo guy ever goes bird watching anywhere else besides Cuba?

Kellyanne Conway annoys me most of all. Her smiling insincerely while someone is asking an important and serious question is offensive.

It's all coming out now to show how self-serving the whole
presidential run has been
The bravado, the tough talk, the posturing, the crowds, the ego -
all a cover for the sinister underside of the beast
We should all give thanks for a free society, before history and
liberty were stolen from us
That's IF we can get HRC elected

(429 posts)Do not allow the Mainstream Media get away with not covering this story as it should. The last jaw-dropping Eichenwald story revealed that Trump's businesses were a threat to national security. That story should have been treated as it was... proof that Trump is unfit to be president of the United States. Instead, the Mainstream Media covered Trump and Dr. Oz's fraud. If this current Eichenwald story isn't treated in the serious manner that it should, then you'll know for sure that the Mainstream Media is not about preserving democracy. It is also important for the left to not dropped the ball on this.

Kellyanne, I must say, kept her pasted on smile almost the whole time. I just hope tRump is paying her a good salary to basicly get up on national tv every day and try to spin the latest debacle into something less ugly. 💩💩💩
