Donald Trump and his allies are refusing to let up on their attacks on former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, with Newt Gingrich shaming her for gaining weight during her reign and Corey Lewandowski suggesting she’s an attempted murderer.

Gingrich, a former House speaker and top Trump surrogate, echoed Trump’s attack line during a dinner address to the Log Cabin Republicans in Washington on Wednesday.

“You’re not supposed to gain 60 pounds during the year that you’re Miss Universe,” Gingrich said, eliciting laughter from the room of Republicans.

“You got to be kidding me,” Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri tweeted in response to Gingrich’s comment. “I am sorry, I can't get past this. Newt Gingrich is criticizing someone for their weight.”

The attacks didn’t stop at the dinner table, though. Lewandowski, a former Trump campaign manager who still has ties to the campaign and contributes regularly to CNN, launched a new attack during the breakfast hour Thursday, resurfacing a decades-old allegation that Machado was involved in an attempted murder in Venezuela.

For the election, it does not matter what Miss Universe did later in her life. What does matter is how he treated an 18 year old woman, who should have been honored by the Miss Universe company as their winner.

It does not even matter that there is not a woman in this country who saw the picture of her exercising who could possibly believe that she had gained 60 pounds! She certainly looked beautiful enough to do all the PR work that she did for the company ... and she should have been paid. In fact, the only 60 pounds of fat that I could imagine in that tape -- was between Donald's ears - hyper concentrated!

I have some close female relatives who have dealt with eating disorders. It is painful and very hard work to recover from. His actions may not have caused them, but they certainly aggravated them.

Newt has a point - a woman enters a beauty contest and wins top prize, gaining a lot of weight probably isn't a smart idea.

But as someone who has struggled to take off over 60lbs, having some asshole insult you and humiliate you doesn't make it any easier either.

And then harping on it a decade later like somehow Trump's insults were the way to solve world piece - it's just wrong. Ms Machado suffered from the humiliation including Anorexia and Bulimia. Perhaps 10 years later Trump could try to be a gentleman about it and just say 'I wish the best for Ms Machado blah blah blah.' Instead he treats her the same way he treated the Khans, Gold Star family who happens to be Muslim - like dirt and with insults and more humiliation.

And what annoys me the most - Trump and Gingrich - they are BOTH obese! Now normally I try to judge a person on their values and attitude towards life and not just on outwards appearance. But I feel that these two men have no problem insulting women (no wonder they have 6 marriages between then) so I have no problem calling them out for being fat, ugly obese men. The only thing that saves them is their money and only a woman with low self-esteem would lower themselves to marry such ugly men. Women like that are gold diggers. Sure Trump was able to marry beautiful women like Melania Trump and wouldn't be caught dead with someone who looked like Rosie O'Donnell. But do you think Melania Trump would even consider going out on a date with Donald Trump if he worked some middle management job making $50k a year? I know this much, I dated that middle management job guy making $50k but if he spewed off racist, homophobic assine shit - good bye!
