Average gasoline price down 4 cents to $2.25 a gallon

Source: Associated Press

Oct. 23, 2016 9:51 PM EDT

CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — The average price of gasoline in the U.S. has dropped four cents over the past two weeks to $2.25 for regular grade.

Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said Sunday it's the first time the price dropped in 11 weeks. Part of the reason is seasonally lower gasoline demand.

The Lundberg Survey found the average price of midgrade gasoline was $2.54 a gallon while premium was $2.75.

The highest average price for regular gas in the contiguous U.S. was $2.78 in San Francisco. The lowest was $1.95 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I didn't hear it this time, but the last two elections that was common "wisdom" in some circles - if Obama rigged the gas pumps to get elected, why wouldn't Hillary?

sarcasm of course, but it is ridiculous (and predictable) what some people will believe.

I am reminded of when Hannity, O'Really, and Rushbo predicted gasoline prices of $6/7 a gallon when Obama first came into office. Here's one:

Even though gasoline and oil prices are going through the roof, I have no doubt in my mind that President Obama made a deal with the Saudis to flood the markets with oil before the election, so he can at least keep it down a little bit,” said Trump in his April 2012 video blog.

“After the election it’s going to be a mess,” continued Trump. “You’re going to see numbers like you’ve never seen if he wins. Let’s hope he doesn’t win. Remember I said it — if he [Obama] wins, oil and gasoline through the roof like never before. I believe a deal was made. It’s a sinister deal, but let’s see whether or not I was right.”

That same year, Trump predicted that the price of a loaf of bread would soon soar to $25.
It currently costs $2.32 on average nationally

Trump would go much higher.

The unintended consequence is to make electric cars popular.
