Trump Rated More Honest; Contest Stays a Dead Heat (POLL)

Source: ABC News

Hillary Clinton trails Donald Trump for the first time this campaign in who’s seen as more honest and trustworthy, a sign of further possible fallout from renewed FBI scrutiny of Clinton-related emails. A steady six in 10 likely voters disapprove of how she’s responded to the issue.

Given Clinton’s advantage in other areas, the race between them is now a precise dead heat in the latest ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll, 46-46 percent. A majority, 55 percent, continues to expect Clinton to win, though that’s down 5 points from its peak last week, before FBI Director James Comey announced the latest review of emails related to Clinton's use of a private server while she served as secretary of state.

Enthusiasm for both candidates remains weak -- 46 percent of Clinton’s supporters and 52 percent of Trump’s are very enthusiastic about their choice, compared with, for example, 64 percent for Barack Obama and 62 percent for Mitt Romney at this point in 2012.

That absence of enthusiasm reflects the historic unpopularity of both candidates, potentially impacting motivation to vote. That said, nearly one in four likely voters, 23 percent, say they’ve already voted. It was 17 percent at this point in 2012, so it looks to be on pace for a record.

Good lord! Will the "Concern Police" let me be concerned now?

All kidding aside, this is no joking matter. GET OUT THE VOTE.

Vote, make sure friends and family vote.

I'll be driving people to the polls even though my state is fairly solid for Hillary.

Was Trump +1 yesterday, now it's a tie. I expect she'll recover a few more points as the 2 immediately post Comey days fall off the Tracker.

All this is within the margin of error. A 1 point vacillation doesn't mean anything if you're within the margin of error. That could be pure noise from day to day polling.

The message to take away is that this race is still close and nothing should be taken for granted.

I know folks say national polls show a trend, but does it really show reality. Go to www.electoral-vote.com It shows the map and where states are now. At the top is the EV totals. Right now Hillary is at 323 v Trump at 215. The EV count is all that matters.

Reuters is one of the scientific polls, very high rated, and they show a widening gap favoring Clinton in the last week.

Woot Woot = Reuters/Ipsos Widens to Nine Point Spread

Like everyone I have been driven to despair by FBI bombshell, MSM pile-on, and tightening polls. Ipsos/Reuters which appears to follow some sort of logical pattern shows a slightly widening race from 42:36 for five days ended 10-28 to 45:36 for five days ended 10-31.

Reuters 5 Day Moving Average to 10-31

Was surprised to see it as Reuters usually publishes weeks polls on Friday. Don’t know why this is not being picked up given quality pollster. Guess it doesn’t fit neat narrative of straight line from Weiner laptop to tightening race.

Here's another showing no tightening after Comey:

We can easily keep Trump below 200 still, with a great GOTV effort. And Latinos alone can deliver the majority in Texas just by turning out.

You can select tabs to produce any result you want. They have an official poll that they do in a traditional manner that is actually included in the 538 totals, this one isn't it.

And tracking polls are an important aspect of understanding how events may or may not impact likely voters. Comey and the email letter turned out to be a great fund raiser for Hillary, but did not impact the tracking poll.

But Trump is honestly a liar. No one can deny that.
