Congressional phones jammed by calls for Trump conflict-of-interrst investigation
Source: Washington Post
If youre trying to call the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, you might find yourself on hold for .?.?. the afternoon.
The committees phones became jammed most of Friday after a Facebook post calling for an investigation into President-elect Donald Trumps finances started to go viral. The message urged readers to call the panel to support the call for a bipartisan review of Trumps financials and apparent conflicts of interest after Trumps daughter and son-in-law joined his private meeting Thursday night at Trump Tower with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
This is a state meeting and they had no security clearance .?.?. and she is supposed to be running his businesses during his presidential term, the post states, referring to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Can you spell yyyuuuge conflict of interest?
The Abe meeting was Trumps first in-person conversation with a foreign leader since he won the election last week. It was a pleasure to have Prime Minister Shinzo Abe stop by my home and begin a great friendship, Trump posted on Instagram with a photo.

(27,794 posts)I first researched the committee a little, then I wrote myself a little script so I wouldn't sound as if I was astroturfing.
Good for you! Good for all of us! And the script is a great idea.

I will be sending out some emails.
Reasons: Trump is violating anti-nepotism laws and refusing to put his interests in a blind trust.
We must make sure for the sake of the country that he is not making decisions based on his interests and not what is best for the country.

(865 posts)am looking for it. In meantime, here is link to entire House Oversight Committee:
https://oversight.house.gov/committee-members/
Their Contact page refers to emailing them, but the link does not go to anything useful (just "content not found" page). We may have to look up individual members and call & email them.
Here is link to page that lists members (as does above) but with links to members' web pages/info.
https://oversight.house.gov/subcommittee/full-committee/
Also, note that these web pages include list of subcommittees -- down toward bottom.

WTF? Is there ANY oversight of these people?

(983 posts)Unless he sells his business, he can not be president.
It is nonsense to believe he is going to turn it over to his kids and he will not have a hand in it.
Blind Trust will not work, he is a control freak, he will not give up control, this has all been a game for him.
Welcome to DU.
I think he can't sell his businesses and get enough to pay off his creditors. If this is the case he is in between a rock and a hard place.
I have been here for years, just a reader.
You may very well be correct!

(7,616 posts)He seemed rather surprised he won, didn't he?
Maybe that was the plan all along, steal the vote for him but keep him in the dark.
He resigns or is forced to due to numerous conflicts of interest and nepotism laws.
In goes Pence, a much more controllable tool.
