According to a statement issued by President-elect Donald Trump, a plan to recount of votes cast in the 2016 election in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, is a scam by the Green Party.
The Trump recount comments continued, with the president-elect describing the results of the election as having already been conceded.
Trump contended that the move by Green Party leader Dr. Jill Stein challenges and abuses the results of the election and stated that they should be respected.
President-elect Trump noted in his statement that Jill Stein wasn't on the ballot in several states and that she captured less than one percent of the popular vote. Trump accused the Stein recount plan of being a ploy to fill her coffers with money, which the president-elect, who recently settled a 25 million fraud lawsuit, as reported by the Inquisitr, contends will never be spent on what he sees as a ridiculous recount.

CNN: Donald Trump blasts recount as 'ridiculous' and 'a scam'
President-elect Donald Trump ripped the election recount on Saturday, calling it "a scam" and "ridiculous" and noting that Hillary Clinton had already conceded.
Trump charged in a statement that the effort was nothing but a fundraising ploy by the Green Party and its nominee, Jill Stein.
"This recount is just a way for Jill Stein, who received less than one percent of the vote overall and wasn't even on the ballot in many states, to fill her coffers with money, most of which she will never even spend on this ridiculous recount," the President-elect said in a statement, which labeled the effort as "ridiculous" in a headline.
Stein has already raised more than $5 million online for the recount in Wisconsin, which may begin some time next week.
Appearing on CNN, Stein dismissed Trump's suggestion that the funds wouldn't be spent on the recount.
"For his information, this is all going into a dedicated and segregated account so that it can only be spent on the recount," she told CNN's Pamela Brown on "Newsroom."

(14,334 posts)We caught him flat-footed too. He has no strategy in place for this. "She conceded" is NOT an argument.
He's just flailing now, but he's too much on record saying votes can be rigged. He was right then for once, wrong now.

(26,045 posts)Let's face it, if the recount results start trending in a direction that indicate he might lose the EC after all, he'll be quick to rachet up the rhetoric so that both Clinton and the Obama administration are complicit in an effort to "steal the election," and call on his supporters to take up "Second Amendment solutions" to prevent it.

(6,009 posts)We should probably have more mandatory recounts/audits anyway, and have random ones even when it's not close, just to see that the system is working properly.

(296 posts)I totally agree with this. It should be for every election too so we can be 100% sure of the results and that there was no mistakes or any type of fraud.

The recount in Wisconsin, should it occur, is already causing plenty of heartburn in the press. Jill Stein has called for it and raised plenty of money in so doing. More to the point, Stein attended a dinner last winter where she was a guest of Vladimir Putin, and it has long been thought that Russias aim in hacking the election was to sow chaos even more than it was to elect Donald Trump.
But Alex Haldermans involvement raises the recount petition to fresh levels of credibility.
Secretary Clinton did not ask for the Wisconsin recount and it was only at the very last minute that Jill Stein even began to discuss it. Her motives were questioned on Twitter, but Haldermans were not.
However, the presence of Prof. Halderman in the affidavit section of the petition should reassure all those who might prefer a recount, in an election which we already know was hacked by Russia, for purely neutral purposes

(50,986 posts)the same feel of Chris Christie's denial that he had anything to do with the GW Bridge lane closures. He taunted the press, asking them if they thought he went down to the bridge and moved the cones himself.
Nobody knows what's going to happen in the recount. Odds are long that any election result will change. Still, let's have a close last look at the ballots.

(22,651 posts)Detroit alone had 90,000!! blank ballots, seems to me an extraordinary number of 'protest votes'.
Also seems to me a very easy way a ballot printer APP with a line of extra script malware could get rid of votes.

(10,857 posts)Consider the following:
* The Greens are a cutout for the Republican Party. There is no doubt about this; DUers have reported on it dozens of times over the past decade and a half. Those three states tally the EVs Donald Trump needs to win. If they are vacated or even called into question, it becomes a problem.
* The reason why the Republican-backed media never let off of Mrs. Clinton's supposed violation of 18 USC 2701 is because there is a line in it which says that a violator is disqualified from holding public office.
* If no Presidential candidate receives a majority of electoral votes, it is the House of Representatives that decides. They are supposed to pick from the top three candidates in the election.
* The deadlocked Supreme Court will be unable to settle any electoral-vote issues this term, particularly not in the tiny window between the Electoral College Meeting on December 19th and the reporting deadline on December 28th.
* There is a silent fourth candidate in every contested US election, because Congress always has a silent option in every Presidential election: they can simply not vote to certify the election results.
* If there is no vote to certify the election, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan inherits the White House as Acting President, without a single vote.
I've been writing about this option all year, because almost a year ago I spotted something--can't recall what it was, now--that showed me they were considering it. This was the Republican backup plan the whole time: they were going to steal it from Hillary Clinton by retaining control of the House and not certifying the election results. Their justification was going to be that while they are not officially permitted to consider qualifications for a President which are beyond the age and "natural born" issues, they ARE permitted to do what they do best: Nothing.
Doing nothing makes Paul Ryan the Acting President. Doing nothing is what Congress does best.
Honestly, I am torn between the incompetent fool who will never understand his job, and the incompetent fool who has been plotting and planning specific ways to destroy America for eight long years. We lose, either way. But we might get to see the Republican Party kill off all the rednecks (along with all of us), which would be some sort of disgusting consolation prize.
