ISTANBULTurkeys government submitted a bill Saturday to overhaul the constitution and concentrate power in President Recep Tayyip Erdogans office, a controversial move that risks further destabilizing the country amid myriad security and economic threats.
The bill includes measures that would call for Turkeys president to run his own cabinet and acquire executive powers currently vested in the parliamentary government. The changes give the head of state sweeping powers to govern by decree, and could potentially allow...

The writing was on the wall given his crackdown on civil liberties this last year.

(100,063 posts)I've been 150% against a new constitutional convention for years for this very reason. With the GOP getting a stranglehold on our government and Trumpenfuror in power, it could happen. This is a war I would join the resistance army to prevent.
