Intelligence Agencies Distressed by Trump's Rejection of Findings on Russia
Source: NBC News
President-elect Donald Trump's dismissal of U.S. intelligence findings that Russia tried to sway the presidential election is a distressing slap in the face to the intelligence community, current and former U.S. intelligence officials said Sunday.
...
The comment, like others that Trump made during the campaign, "is contrary to all that is sacred to national security professionals who work day and night to protect this country," a U.S. intelligence official told NBC News.
...
A congressional official with knowledge of the issue told NBC News on Saturday that the CIA has concluded that Russia mounted a covert intelligence operation to help Trump win the election.
Another source briefed on the intelligence told NBC News that the U.S. government has identified specific Russian actors it believes were involved in computer systems hacks based on intercepted communications, human tips and computer forensics.

What's the sense of all this nationalism if you don't use the
intelligence to protect our businesses and state secrets?
This is dangerous, foreign countries are after our patents and

Trump feels comfortable with that kind of thing.

He is one large mouthed, wealthy (he says - but is he really - where are the taxes?) narcissistic man child that has always seen himself above the law, above regulations - above everything. A much stronger hand needs to be played - too much kow towing, too much normalization going on.

(10,712 posts)The less people vote, the easier it is to steal an election. The easier it is to hack and get away with it, the more often it happens.
One perspective is that the US came out of the recession stronger and more prosperous than any other country. If you are any other country in the world, you want a piece of that. Competing openly is one way, but we don't have many vulnerabilities. Competing militarily is out of the question. What we do have is an absurdly bad election process, an easily swayed populace, and a media full of charlatans. If you are Putin, who's country has suffered under crippling sanctions, what was easier than helping place an easily manipulated dope at the top of his biggest competitor?

(10,857 posts)They're just letting Trump dig in for a while. Just wait until later this week, when someone drops a direct line of communication. Remember when Paul Manafort and Carter Page wandered off into the wilderness?
The only problem with all of this is that this is the Republican plan. They didn't want either nominee as President. So they hatched a plan to steal it from everyone, on the grounds that both candidates are disqualified.
If Paul Ryan inherits the office--and that's what all of this is really about--the Republican Party is never giving it back.

(3,251 posts)Don't believe me? That is what happened with Gerald Ford.
Appointed presidents are not legitimate by definition.
Ryan is not particularly well liked by his own party, either.
The ONLY legitimate choice in this election is the one who won the popular vote.

(45,806 posts)I'm sure this is their first time experiencing this particular attitude from one of OUR Presidents, but they'll deal with in the best way possible. Maybe that mean ignoring him, and working directly with the Congressional Security committees, and let them deal with the Con. All I can say is, it's a very stupid move to get the entire intelligence community against you. Stuff like that usually comes back to bite you in the ass BAD!
