So why did McConnell block the release of the story about Russia hacking our
elections and block increased security for our voting systems?
McConnell is guilty of treason.

(21,946 posts)I smell fear, because what he did by threatening to make it partisan if the public was informed before the election, was treasonous.
When they start opening that Pandora's box, it's hard how many will be wearing the ball and chain when it's done.
edited to add:
I think we'll see a plethora of people taking the fifth.

McConnell put the republican party over the well being of America. Although I
don't know thnis but I have no doubt that McConnell knew about the election
rigging and that is why he blocked Justice Merrick Garland's nomination to
the Supreme Court.

(25,219 posts)Was he working behind the scenes to do the rigging? And Jeb Bush dropping out so soon in this whole scheme of things. Was the Repug clown car just cover for Trump and did the Repugs plan to use Trump as the front man for this whole bringing down of everything the Dems and Obama have worked for over all the years?
Did they plan all along to make Trump the useful idiot? Do they all have 'plausible deniability" now?
My tinfoil hat has been too tight since well before the election when I posted that if I didn't know any better that there was a 'coup' going on.
My suspicions seemed real on election night when Trump won. And everyday since that day - things are only getting worse.

(289 posts)... if they're trying to find a way to get Trump to quit the GOP before they make a move. From what I know, he's not even talking to them outside of the sycophants looking for jobs in his administration. If the congressional leadership approves an investigation into Russian hacking, there's no telling what Trump's ego will lead him to do.

Giving Trump, almost direct control over the military, federal law enforcement, and all intelligence gathering!
Hitler never had it that good, coming out of the gate!!!
ZoomBubba
(289 posts)... Hitler had a clear vision of what he wanted to do and his inner circle worked pretty much in unison to accomplish it. If Hitler were like Trump, he probably would have acted
Trump changes his mind minute to minute and his inner circle is trying to pull him a dozen directions. There's no coherency about it aside from telling him he's "wonderful."

(8,196 posts)I think his cabinet is pretty unified in telling him to extract all the fossil fuels, everywhere, as fast as possible.
Also privatize everything in sight.
And keep corporate taxes low, because it will all trickle down and help workers. But, um, keep minimum wage as low as possible.
ZoomBubba
(289 posts)... Republican stuff we've been getting for years. Say what you want, but that's the predictable part.
Elsewhere, especially with trade and foreign policy, he's wildly inconsistent ... promising capitalism with one hand and then state support with the other.

(289 posts)... he is playing chicken with China right now. With the disaster he's already created, I'm wondering how far he's going to go before their hands are forced. I think Pence and Priebus were put with him to control him ... but obviously they can't. If he's uncontrollable and the likely outcome is the abandonment of NATO or military conflict with China, I see them acting because they don't have a choice. The GOP may be assholes, but they want to have a country left to run too.
Sunlei
(22,651 posts)ZoomBubba
(289 posts)... continuing to campaign would have put them further into debt. Which isn't worth it unless you win.
Sunlei
(22,651 posts)ZoomBubba
(289 posts)... because it's the campaigns that technically go into debt. We're talking about millions of dollars, which may never get paid, but makes donors reluctant to give to a losing horse. GOP donors kept shifting their donations to beat Trump, but it was pretty much a waste, even when the field narrowed.

(289 posts)... even though they're Republicans, they're not suicidal. I have dealings with GOP politicians on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. Most of them are your dull, run of the mill, politicians who want to be elected over and over again. They do not like unpredictable leadership and if they can't control someone, they're going to find a way to get rid of him, preferably (for them) with as little damage to themselves as possible.
Sunlei
(22,651 posts)Like Ohios NEW (passed this week, shoved in as attachment) 'no abortion once the 6 week heartbeat is heard'
Republicans aren't suicidal, they're selfish. Republicans won't get rid of trump, they'll protect him so other Republicans can cut-off & chip away, secret ryder, some Americans right to a decent " "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" .

Citing several unnamed officials, The Post wrote that McConnell threatened to rebuke the Obama administration if it publicly challenged Russia.
Trump hired McConnell's wife, Elaine Chao, as secretary of transportation after the election. Chao ran the Labor Department in the George W. Bush administration.
The appointment requires congressional approval. McConnell has rejected calls to recuse himself from the confirmation process.

And while your pin pal the serial predator was running around and saying the election was rigged, well guess what he knew, you knew, Ryan Knew, McCarthy knew, Prebius knew, all the fascist knew and then you step out and say there is no veracity" in the information from the CIA. I guess when Wikileakes shut down after the election, it doesn't mean anything, have you heard anything from them dick****, nope how f****ing convenient.
You sat in that room and was told, just like when you sat in that restaurant and conspired against a sitting president and now you have done it to the entire nation along with your f***ing republican buddies ----------------------FU
Not only should you be impeached, but when given the opportunity, you and everyone and everyone in that room, had the means to say we want a vote done by paper and and have it counted by hand for the good of the "republic"-----but you did not-----your are a f***ing Traitor and you are making money off the taxpayers ( $225,000) a year to be a f***ing Traitor, along with Ryan and all of your fascist cronies and you all should be impeached
