First Lady-elect Melania Trump appeared in a Maryland courtroom Monday for a scheduling conference as legal proceedings geared up in a defamation suit against a Montgomery County blogger and a British tabloid.

Mrs. Trump was not required to attend the court conference, but chose to do so, to meet the judge, meet opposing counsel, and show her commitment to the case, said her attorney, Charles J. Harder.

He said the incoming first lady looks forward to seeing the case to a successful conclusion.

The 24-minute hearing covered standard scheduling matters for civil litigation.

I REALLY think Melania would MUCH prefer not to have ANYTHING to do with the Presidency or any of its trappings. Nonetheless, she is in it now.
