The U.S. agency charged with ensuring that voting machines meet security standards was itself penetrated by a hacker after the November elections, Reuters reports.
Eventually they discovered that the Russian-speaking hacker had obtained the credentials of more than 100 people at the election commission after exploiting a common database vulnerability
The hacker was trying to sell information about the vulnerability to a Middle Eastern government for several thousand dollars.

(18,402 posts)is Hillary Clinton's private server. Or at least nothing has been leaked from it, regarding her time at State or anything else. Go figure: the endless talking point about careless security fell on her shoulders, and she seems to be the only one who has avoided it.
Nailed it!

(3,847 posts)Hillary's we wouldn't get hacked. Seems they knew what the hell they were doing, why don't all agencies have their IT guy?
So when is this little tidbit going to come out? After the Twittler is sworn in? The regular media will hold on to this for a long time before "breaking the big news"??

(59 posts)How does this square with Obama's remarks, just moments ago stating (sorry, paraphrasing here) that there's zero evidence of any tampering? This news, and the ditty I read last night about a Wisconsin tabulator having cellular connectivity.

(2,565 posts)I can only think that the last thing the world needs to hear right now is that the president announced that votes were tampered. It was a judge he appointed who stopped the recount in MI. There is more here than meets the eye, and I trust him enough to have said that for a good reason, while not believing it for ONE minute. No, not even a second.

(1,076 posts)I'm not a programmer. It would appear, this agency head would be a critical thinker, and have hired a resident security expert/hacker. Based on the narrative above, this should never have happened at the agency. What did this hacker do, dial in through the cell phone portal? What happened? Don't tell me, others are reading/watching.
