IS suicide bomb kills 40 Yemen soldiers in payday queue

Source: BBC

A suicide bomber has killed at least 40 soldiers and wounded many more in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden.

Reports say the soldiers were queuing up to receive salaries near a military base when the attacker struck.

The bomber immersed himself in the crowd of soldiers at al-Solban base in al-Arish district, an official said.

So-called Islamic State (IS) said it was behind the attack, adding it killed 70 "apostates". The bombing follows a near identical attack days ago.

The situation in Yemen seems to be largely ignored.

Also it is very far away and remote. And the violence there is so frequent that it seems normal.

How many times, for example, have there been articles about suicide bombings in Iraq? They are just so commonplace.

Yemen is a similar situation - and with even less of a resonance with people in the US.

Very few Americans have any plans to visit Yemen anytime soon.

how many shooting deaths in our very own chicago this year? if the numberd from chicago tribune is to be believed, 4240, compare to 2989 in 2015. it should be big news, but it isn't.

Muslim victims of Daesh? Nope, can't focus on them as that would contradict a notion of a clash of civilizations/holy war that some people in two camps (Right wing on one side, Daesh on the other) seem to salivate over.
