Europe searches for suspect in Berlin Christmas market attack

Source: Washington Post

The suspect — identified by police as Anis Amri — became the subject of a national manhunt after investigators discovered a wallet with his identity documents in the truck used in Monday’s attack, two law enforcement officials told The Post. Among those injured were two Americans, said a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Berlin.

German authorities issued a 100,000 euro ($105,000) reward for information leading to his capture, warning citizens not to approach the 5-foot-8, 165-pound Amri, whom they described as “violent and armed.”

Amri, officials said, was not part of the surge of migrants who entered Europe via the onetime main route from Turkey and Greece — a path that has been now largely cut off.

Rather, he came to Germany last year via Italy, where he apparently had entered as early as 2012. He applied for German asylum but was rejected in June and later faced deportation.

Again we see an example of someone known by police/intelligence for interacting with ISIS with no response.

Hope this bastard is caught quickly and brought to justice.

The perpetrator should've been deported long ago. Came to Italy in 2011, spent 4 years in Italian jails. Then went to Germany and applied for asylum which was rejected. While in Germany was associating with ISIS connected individuals. Placed under surveillance for trying to buy weapons. Engaged in drug dealing. Was even placed on US no fly lists!

German security agencies have much explaining to do.

No one did anything for fear of upsetting Muslims or creating ill will towards them. So, instead, hundreds of children were raped and molested and the very act of protecting the rapists ensured that MUCH ill will would be created once the public found out.

Just like the rapes on New Year's Eve in Cologne. The coverup magnified the bad feelings and created more resentment.

Just like the fact that adult immigrant men are passing as children to get more generous benefits, everyone knows it, but no one wants to do anything about it because it might cause ill will. Well, letting these men get away with it is causing more anger.

The fact that these feckless leaders in Europe do nothing is creating more problems because you just can't sweep this crap under the rug. People eventually find out the truth. Deport the cheaters, the criminals, the rapists, the terrorists. When the people know that the government is protecting them, everyone benefits and the innocent refugees can settle into their new homes.

do they have to keep anyone who is "suspected" of being a terrorist, or anyone who commits a crime? He was in prison for arson in Italy (I believe for setting fire to a school.) Since when does a non-citizen have rights to stay in Europe? Deport his ass!

This coddling of criminals is creating bad feelings towards immigrants and it has to stop.

Both Germany and Italy tried to deport him.

They have tons of people like this - they need to build detention centers and keep them there, plus intern all those who arrive without identity docs.

The guy they are looking for was a criminal, but so many have done the same thing that it's a real problem.

I vaguely heard that on BBC 4, but I was half asleep and wasn't even sure the report was about this man.

There has to be a way to force these countries to take back their own criminals. Stop the aid. Create sanctions. Whatever.
