LAKE DELTON, Wis. (WBAY) A boy has died after falling from a water slide at Mt. Olympus Water Park, according to our Madison sister station WKOW.

The water park is closed for the season.

Lake Delton Police tell WKOW that the boy and two others got inside the park and were able to climb to the top of an outdoor water slide.

One of the boys took a sled down the slide. At the halfway point, he got caught in snow. As the boy tried to free himself, he fell 35 feet to the ground.

On edit: Ok, forget the Darwin Award.

I have a hunch though the family will sue the water park.

Like in summer taking a kiddie coaster wagon down a steep slope.

Along with another guy!

We wiped out, getting all dirty and a couple bruises.

Know what we did next?
We did it again!

5. Did you break into private property to access the steep slope?

And was your steep slope elevated above a sheer drop to the ground below?

9. Yes we were on someone else's property, and no it wasn't a sheer drop.

The point is teenagers do stupid things.

(Pre-teens do too, but not as often.)

And it looks like these kids were exceptionally stupid.

from when the boy died on Verruckt, that impossibly stupid slide over the summer.

So sad. Going down a frozen waterslide probably seemed like an amazing idea to them. Even if it could work, sliding on ice doesn't involve the surface tension of the water and it would be out of control.

6. I reserve Darwin Awards for adults

He is described as a boy, so I'm assuming be wasn't a teen. They say the park was fenced and the gates were locked, so how did the kids get in? Was it really that secure? Attractive Nuisance Doctrine could come into play.

Because kids (preteen and teenage) do stupid things, and sometimes get killed.

12. Kids that do stupid things can grow up to be adults who don't

As adults, we expect that we will have to protect kids from doing stupid things that can kill them.

A Darwin Award is a "Thanks for taking yourself out of the gene pool" award. Funny for stupid adults. For kids being kids, not so much.
