Fights break out at malls across United States
Source: CNN.com
(CNN)Disturbances that included gunfire, massive brawls and food-court fights played out at more than a dozen malls across the country in what proved to be a chaotic day after Christmas. The disturbances, some of which were captured on social media, prevented some shoppers from clearing off clearance racks and returning Christmas gifts as they intended. The mall incidents, which ranged from minor melees to mass evacuations, occurred nationwide from Colorado to Tennessee, Texas to New Jersey. Here's what happened at six of those malls. Read more: http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/27/us/mall-disturbances-after-christmas/ Although not mentioned in the article, Destiny USA - the mall in Syracuse NY, also had a huge fight broken up: http://www.localsyr.com/news/local-news/fight-at-destiny-usa-prompts-large-police-response/631922716 Was something posted on social media that caused this? ![]()

8. Seriously..this is the new normal
Entitled tRump voters now have the right to become violent if they somehow feel slighted in the least way.
I drive a 2011 Prius, I have Obama 2012, Bernie and Hillary stickers and several others such as 'coexist' on my bumper. I get harassed every day by what I assume are tRump voters in their jacked-up smoke belching diesel pickups. I can feel their hatred and sense of violence and rage directed at me and progressives in general. I fear there is a civil war brewing. Never in my life did I feel like I needed a gun to protect myself but now I'm actually considering getting a concealed carry permit. |

loosely organized on social media according to BBC 4 so I wouldn't call them regular shoppers.
At least 8 malls were involved. |

32. Yup.
Trump-supporting African-American underage voters.
The video didn't show entirely AA populations, but it was far from the Aryan-looking population assumed in some posts. But hey, whatever's necessary to blame the usual suspects and make those believed innocent out to be truly innocent. We good, they bad; we moral, they immoral; we smart, they stupid; we like facts and honesty, they like lies and falsehood. And anybody who says otherwise is one of them, and to be ignored. |

33. What I meant is...
since he was "elected," there have been an enormous number of violent incidents throughout the country.
http://www.rawstory.com/2016/11/this-post-election-violence-is-not-normal-and-it-is-un-american/ It could be I misunderstood the context of the particular type of violence described in the post and mistakenly associated it with his post-"election" violence. I was at work when I saw the post and neglected to read through the article. (That'll teach me!) |

there was the cell phone; before the cell phone, landline phones and before those there was word of mouth. But even if you only want to look at the social media phenom...Facebook was founded in 2004, My Space in 2003... brawls are not new and have nothing to do with the outcome of the recent election.
And yeah, I do more and more shopping on Amazon, it is safer. ![]() |

it is called "wilding". Group gets together on social media, certain place, certain time, all hell breaks loose for 10-15 minutes (police response time), and everybody disappears. Some, if not mostly, gang related. Going on for several years now, I believe.

Several years ago the authorities blocked transmissions from cell phone towers serving around a BART station in San Francisco because of expected trouble.

I stopped with eight examples from each year, so I surely missed others.
The articles often mentioned possible social media influences, just like this year. 2015: St. Matthews Mall, Louisville KY Sherwood Mall, Stockton CA Weberstown Mall, Stockton CA Patrick Henry Mall, Newport VA Deptford Center Mall, Deptford NJ Orange Park Mall, Orange Park FL Roosevelt Field Mall, Long Island NY North Riverside Park Mall, North Riverside IL 2014: Monroeville Mall, Pittsburgh PA Arden Fair Mall, Sacramento CA Beachwood Place Mall, Cleveland OH Chicago Ridge Mall, Chicago IL Kings Plaza Mall, Brooklyn NY Wolfchase Galleria Shopping Mall, Memphis TN Independence Center, Independence MO Opry Mills Mall, Nashville TN |

43. The "media" can make things "trends" or not . . .
I bet you could go into other days in history in which fights broke out at the same # of malls, but since it wasn't reported as a "rash" then no one thought it was. The same with media-created "crime waves," etc.
