China Announces Its Largest-Ever Seizure Of Trafficked Pangolin Scales

Source: NPR

Chinese officials have seized 3.1 tonnes (more than 3.4 tons) of illegally trafficked pangolin scales from a port in Shanghai, according to state media.

It's the largest such seizure China has ever made, Xinhua News Agency reports.

Pangolins are the world's most widely trafficked mammals — their meat is a delicacy and their scales are used in traditional Chinese medicine.

All eight species of pangolin are facing extinction.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about this or that species going extinct because the Chinese want the ivory, or use it for medicine, or think it's a delicacy.

'farming' ivory. Orcas for breeding AND Sea Worlds new show-park in China. Sea World China has NO humane care regulations at all. So over there Orcas are trained by 'living' in a tiny dark pen begging for a human to bring light & food.

Thousands of pregnant Horses, standing forever in tiny stalls with urine collection bags to collect premarin (a common womans medicine)for drug corporations. yes, they have foals every year, those are fattened and eaten. mixed in with 'beef', it's easy.

How much does it cost in China to 'hunt' a panda? How much is a factory farmed elephants tucks worth? tigers are easy to breed in Chinas gigantic drive through "wildlife viewing" theme parks. great for canned hunts and bones are considered medicine'

Chinas government exploits everything, even their own 'citizens'.

real wildlife, 'Family groups' of elephants along with the elder males(who usually roam far away from female groups) are already extinct from our world.

When are these ingorant backwards fuckwad herbalists going to realize these scales are not medicine --for anything. They're not going to give you a boner, they're not going to cure your cancer, nothing. These idiots killed 7,500 of these critically endangered animals to gather that many bags of scales. This is so fucked up.
