Trump tells Schumer he likes him more than other GOP leaders

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by DonViejo (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: New York Post

Donald Trump told Democrat Sen. Charles Schumer in a phone call he likes him more than his GOP brethren House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a source close to the transition team said.

During a recent phone call, the president-elect said to Schumer he likes Schumer more than Ryan and McConnell because they both wanted him to lose, the source said. They are Republicans and Trump knows they didnt support him.

A rep from Schumers office would not comment on private remarks between the two men.

Trump ridiculed Ryan on Twitter and at rallies during the campaign and teased both Republican leaders, saying they werent in love with me before the election but they love him afterward.

Trump has described his relationship with the incoming Senate minority leader as very good and close in interviews.

The more time he wastes on this the better off we are.

He may do these in yer face surprises to many things.

I say push his racist buttons and chew up his time with that.

OR

What is Trump afraid of? Both in NYC. Schumer knows just about
all that's gone on in NYC for decades. It's an angle to watch.

If this is true, it's not necessarily a bad thing IMHO- if Schumer gets Trump's ear more than Ryan or McConnell. There is some potential for influencing him in a better direction on some policies, as well sowing some division within the Republican ranks.

Trump likes people who say nice things about him. Putin seems to have figured that out. Trump's expectation is others will like him if he says nice things about them. Wouldn't it be great, for him, if Schumer was his buddy?

Schumer cares more about the NY rich than the working class. So the question is, is he just being trolled by drumpf for grins or will he actually work with the repugs who did nothing but obstruct during their 8 years in the minority.

And over Schumer's career. It is undeniable that they get along.

During the 2008 campaign cycle, Trump hosted a fundraiser for the Democrats’ Senate campaign arm, which Schumer chaired, and helped the party raise $230,000 at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla.

“It was a usual fundraiser,” Schumer recalled, describing the event as “a good night” for the party’s coffers.

“People wanted to go to Mar-a-Lago, which was then a bigger deal than it is now,” Schumer added.

On Friday, Schumer said what he remembers most about Trump was “landing at LaGuardia and seeing his big plane sitting there, and I realized, what a genius — he paid the rent because it was like getting a great sign advertised because his plane said, ‘Trump.’ ”

It's a typical manipulative ploy and one of the techniques Trump uses to get his way.

He always makes one to one meetings so positive that the person changes their mind

Don't be fooled. Everything he says is to manipulate people. Nothing is true
