Cruz, Graham offer bill to cut off funding to UN over Israel vote

Source: The Hill

GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced legislation on Thursday that would cut off funding to the United Nations over a vote targeting Israel settlements.

The GOP legislation would cut off funding until the president certified to Congress that a U.N. security resolution condemning Israel's expansion of settlements in occupied Palestinian territories as a violation of international law has been repealed.

Cruz said President Obama "betrayed decades of robust bipartisan American support for Israel" by having his administration abstain from voting on the resolution, rather than vetoing it.

"Congress must hold the UN accountable and use our leverage as its largest contributor to push for the repeal of this resolution, making it clear to the world that Congress stands unequivocally against efforts to undermine Israel," he added.

To be honest I'm a little tired of getting nothing for the tax dollars they receive! At one time Israel was "America's aircraft carrier in the Middle east", according to Republican Senator Jesse Helms!

The US Navy has the 5th Fleet stationed in Baharain, the USAF has the B-2 which can fly from bases in the US, refuel in midair, and use the facilities located on the island of Diego Garcia!

Forward bases in both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, renders Israel's strategic uses moot!

America needs to stop throwing money down that black hole, called the Middle East, and start fixing itself!

And for clarity, I don't stand behind any of the countries in the Middle East...they all suckle at the American teat, and then piss down our legs.

A country that would do that to it's staunchest ally and lie about it to boot should never ever be trusted!

The other economically large UN members have been taking up the slack for years.
