White House Concedes That Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller Wrote Much of Trump's Speech

Earlier this week, it was reported that President Donald Trump wrote his inauguration speech himself, with CNN stating that two Trump transition officials told them he had written the draft. The report further noted that the president told historian Douglas Brinkley last month that he was writing the address.
Trump would also post an image on social media of him purportedly working on the speech while at Mar-a-Lago weeks ago.
-snip-
Well, it appears that Trump wasnt telling the full truth, per a White House official.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal last night, advisers Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon were responsible for much of the speech.

No matter who wrote it, Trump read the words and either agrees with them or is a bigger stooge than I thought. Such a nasty man.

(10,749 posts)Don't need commentary. Just a list of lies and how they are found to be lies, even when it's his own people who essentially tell us that their boss lied.

(11,843 posts)to get just the lies would be dropping whatever greeting he uses and two, maybe three sentence fragments.

(11,243 posts)The speech was heinous, but also a perfectly crafted piece of propaganda. No way Trump has the wit, skill or attention span to write a thing like that. He put a photo up of himself "writing" the speech, but he is sitting at his receptionists desk and using a sharpie on a legal pad. So foolish!

(65,490 posts)writing on it virtually impossible, but that does serve the purpose of hiding the fact that the page is completely blank.

(10,279 posts)Bannon and Miller just made their boss into a total fool by writing him a shitty speech.
On the world stage, Trump is going to get ripped apart. (Hey you dummy Trump: when it's important, you have to prepare and practice.)

(5,815 posts)as well as for volunteer work I have done. When I hand wrote them, there were scratch outs, arrows pointing where I wanted to shift a sentence and sometimes wads of paper tossed around the room.
In time, I usually composed my speeches on my laptop so it was neater but still the same process. I often printed out a draft and read it out loud to check flow and continuity. Hard copies would have arrows, scratch outs just like when I wrote speeches by hand,
I can think of NO reason to use a Sharpie since they tend to bleed through the paper. I suspect that tRump carries a Sharpie in his pocket to write his autograph on various objects so that was handy to stage the so-called "tRump hard at work" writing that awful speech.
After the universally awful critiques of his diatribe, I am not surprised he is backing off of saying he wrote it. Lies are pretty much par for the course for this jackass. But even liars like tRump don't exactly want to be tainted with that steaming pile of a speech.

(24,058 posts)The scenario you describe is exactly what it used to look like when I was writing papers in grad school. No word processors in the early 1980s - legal pads and a manual typewriter. What I wouldn't have given for a word processor, seeing as I was always editing, right up until the last moment.

(23,163 posts)Unless it enriches him personally, it's a total lie. OMG, he's talking to CIA, saying how he respects them when for tbe last year they have been "so wrong, so stupid". They haven't forgotten, wonder if he has paid clappers there again like he did at his rallies and the inauguration. He certainly did not reassure anyone or win any friends. They know a blow job when they see it.
God, I hope they bring him down.
