Trump says he'll send in feds if Chicago doesn't fix 'horrible carnage going on'

Source: CNN

President Donald Trump, for the first time since taking office, has tweeted about violence in Chicago, saying: "I will send in the Feds" if they don't fix the "horrible 'carnage'" going on.

He tweeted about the shootings there in early January, saying at the time as President-elect: "If Mayor can't do it he must ask for Federal help."

Tuesday night he wrote, "If Chicago doesn't fix the horrible 'carnage' going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds."

The Chicago Police Department tells CNN there have been 38 homicides and 182 shooting incidents in the city so far in 2017. Chicago Police only report homicides. They are not necessarily all shooting deaths.

4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state, or to enter with force into a state, without the express consent and invitation of that state’s legislature and governor.

One of the causes of the American Revolution was the attempt “to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power” by disbanding the Massachusetts legislature and appointing General Gage as “military governor.” The attempt to disarm the people of Massachusetts during that martial law sparked our Revolution. Accordingly, the power to impose martial law – the absolute rule over the people by a military officer with his will alone being law – is nowhere enumerated in our Constitution.

Further, it is the militia of a state and of the several states that the Constitution contemplates being used in any context, during any emergency within a state, not the standing army.

The imposition of martial law by the national government over a state and its people, treating them as an occupied enemy nation, is an act of war. Such an attempted suspension of the Constitution and Bill of Rights voids the compact with the states and with the people.

martial law was quite popular around here among some folks...

Of course for the last eight years we've been hearing how the President was going to use troops to take over cities. I guess the winds of change have blown.

We warned you that that Muslim socialist would trample on the Constitution.

What? Trump?

Never mind.

Posse Comitatus Act

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes. The purpose of the act – in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807 – is to limit the powers of the federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. It was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction, and was subsequently updated in 1956 and 1981.

The Act only specifically applies to the United States Army and, as amended in 1956, the United States Air Force. While the Act does not explicitly mention the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy has prescribed regulations that are generally construed to give the Act force with respect to those services as well. The Act does not apply to the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor. The United States Coast Guard, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, is not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act either, primarily because although the Coast Guard is an armed service, it also has both a maritime law enforcement mission and a federal regulatory agency mission.

Hey, there! You, down there in the Gun Control & RKBA Group! Take a break from breathing new life into anti-Democratic threads from 2015, and consider this:

For years and years, you've lectured to us about the true by-God meaning of the sacred Second Amendment. You've told us that the Founding Fathers didn't stumble over the clumsy grammar of the 2nd just for the sake of hunting and target plinking, oh my no. The true by-God purpose of the 2nd was to provide armed protection for the public against the sinister actions of a tyrannical government regime.

Well, here we are, boys and girls. We've got a mentally-unbalanced, dictator-wannabe installed in the White House. The only part of the Bill Of Rights he's not wiping his ass with at the moment is the sacred Second Amendment. And he's prepared to "send in the Feds" to clean up Chicago neighborhoods to his satisfaction. What actions those federal forces take, and how long they occupy those neighborhoods, can only be speculated upon at the moment. But given the White House occupant's behavior in his first few days in office, do you for one moment believe it will be a measured, thoughtful, successful response? Do you?

There you have it, DU Gun Enthusiasts. If things get really ugly in Chicago, what are you prepared to do?
