(12,165 posts)Great musician. The Allman Brothers Band was a fantastic group, and the interplay between Butch Trucks and Jaimoe stoked the fire that kept them steaming.
That's Butch in the wide-brimmed hat, closest to the camera -- during one of the Allmans' classic Fillmore East concerts in 1970.

(3 posts)on Moonshiners show last evening. One group of Moonshiners had sold him some "sip" and the series showed them going to Butch's home to talk about $$$. What a beautiful home! So sad about an awesome musician. Hope the "shine" didn't cause it. Love love the Allman Brothers music. Rest in peace Butch.

(129,440 posts)@ UMASS was of Bonnie Raitt and the Allman Brothers back in 1980. Beautiful day and great concert. We had a spot right on the field near the stage and sat on blankets. Stadium was packed.

(129,440 posts)I actually googled and someone has a facebook page that listed the date as May 10th (1980). I remember it was a nice warmish day. I had taken some pics that are packed away who knows where.
We had spread some blankets on the ground to sit on. That facebook page listed Lonnie Liston Smith as the opener (who was apparently the "special guest" listed on the ticket).

(5,940 posts)Nice find. I can still remember the opening notes of "Don't Want You No More" as we scored last minute tix and made our way onto the field!
I'm a real fan of his nephew Derek and his wife Susan Tedeschi. I wasn't aware of how deep the Trucks went in the Allman Brothers band. Some awesome music to be had with them.
