Office That Protects Whistleblowers Fires Warning Shot Across Trump's Bow

Source: TPM

The Office of Special Counsel, an agency that protects whistleblowers in the federal government, on Wednesday issued a reminder that any non-disclosure agreements or policies on employee communications must include language notifying federal employees of their whistleblower rights.

"Under the anti-gag provision, agencies cannot impose nondisclosure agreements and policies that fail to include required language that informs employees that their statutory right to blow the whistle supersedes the terms and conditions of the nondisclosure agreement or policy," the OSC press release said.

The OSC reminder followed several reports that employees at agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency were told not to issue press releases or use official social media accounts. There is also speculation that President Donald Trump may require some administration employees to sign non-disclosure agreements, as he has required his employees to do so in the past.

The press release sent out by the Office of Special Counsel on Wednesday noted that the anti-gag order provision in the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act (WPEA) requires that agencies must notify employees about their whistleblower rights in any nondisclosure agreement or general policy regarding communication.

He's governing like the kid in the Twilight Zone movie; he doesn't like something, he just wishes it away.

Dismissive humor is an empty vessel. It serves no purpose other than to undermine the sense of urgency that we should be feeling. We've experienced a right-wing coup, our party is in shambles (yes, it is; facts matter), and everything we stand against is racing full-steam ahead.

I've been accused of taking life too seriously; occasionally been told to "lighten up" (and I've actually considered the possible merits of it). While my BP and heart would probably benefit from such an approach, my dominant self screams "BEWARE OF THE FUCKING CREEPING DICTATORSHIP THAT THESE ACTIONS REPRESENT--and refrain from wasting time joking. ORGANIZE. MOBILIZE. ANTICIPATE. PREPARE. RESIST."

We the people must awaken, transcend the recognize that we have not witnessed anything close to this, much less the context in which it occurring, in our civic and political history.

This. is. not. a. laughing. matter.

Get serious, folks.

I expect most if not all (non-trolls) would agree. However too much seething anger coupled with lashing out at anything and everything around you, has the effect of blinding one to clear thinking and solutions. OTOH, sardonic humor can help to diffuse and tamp down that out of control roaring inferno and take you to a white hot slow burn, which might provide the ability for a more deliberate and stable thought process.

We'd be crying hysterically all the time. Has to be some release from grief and anger.

Don't worry, we all know this is deadly serious.

If we loose our voice, we have nothing.
Trump is issuing edicts and then ordering gags.
Sound like a Hitler platform.

Make no mistake. Trump is a "Nero".
We need to solicit and stop anything and/or everything he does. He's smart.
You better bet that anything he does has or gets us another problem as well as any set of ideas which lay down the road. He always plans with great scrutiny. His ideas may sound super beneficial to all, but deep down in his warped psyche, its all about the super ego of Donald Trump.
Stop this lunatic before we have a global civil war or he burns up the planet. So, how do we do this?
