Spicer: Nordstrom Dropping Ivanka Trump's Line Is 'Direct Attack' On Prez

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Wednesday that Nordstrom's decision to stop carrying Ivanka Trump's clothing and accessories line is an attack on the president's policies and his daughter.
Spicer told reporters during his daily press briefing that the decision -- which Nordstrom said was a result of poor sales, not politics -- was because of the clothing company's displeasure with President Donald Trump's executive orders and his policies.
"I think this is less about his family's business and an attack on his daughter," Spicer said. "He ran for president. He won. He's leading this country. I think for people to take out their concern about his actions or his executive orders on members of his family, he has every right to stand up for his family and applaud their business activities, their success."
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump attacked Nordstrom on Twitter, saying that the brand treated his daughter "so unfairly."

They've exploded the myth of the White House / Trump Inc firewall and illustrated just what their Alt-ethics look like.
Ethics experts warned that, without divestment and a blind trust, this sort of scenario would almost certainly occur.

(66,903 posts)There is a greatly reduced demand for Trump products. So a store continuing to carry those products makes no business sense. In order to increase shareholder value, these stores are eliminating floor and storage space reserved for these products so they can continue to make money on the products that sell.
See? Even Ayn Rand could figure that one out...

(269 posts)Trump clearly instructed him to do this. This is NOTHING to do with the White House and has NO PLACE whatsoever in government discussions... let alone a White House press briefing. This is such a gong show.
Spicer needs to resign if he wants to spare his dignity, as well as future job prospects. Depending on whether or not he had to sign some strict non-disclosure agreement, he should go straight to CNN and spill. I bet he'll end up writing a book one day.

She obviously wanted people to buy her shit because of the "Trump" name, now they won't buy her shit because of the "Trump" name, and business deals fall through. That's capitalism.

I'm not the sort of person who EVER shops for anything. . . . I don't like to shop, and I resist going to ANY store.
Nonetheless, THIS is going to call for a shopping trip to Nordstrom's. If there's nothing for me there, I'll buy something for somebody else!

There is a level of hypocrisy in politics, but never on a level like this. Republicans are drunk with power, and afraid to upset their AM Hate Radio listening base.
They will not even hold this President to even the lowest level standard of decency, professionalism, competence, temperament, empathy or comportment.
Republicans are the party that has the voting power to put an end to this, or at least place a check on it, but they can't and they won't.
The only thing that saves us is FIERCE RESISTANCE at every point.
American cities that overwhelmingly vote Democratic should cancel any contract with any company that has any, even the most minute, connection to Trump. His hotels should be picketed. All travel for city employees should be restricted from staying at a Trump owned hotel. Golfers should have to navigate a sea of megaphone yelling protesters to play a round of golf.
Republicans aren't listening. Perhaps a General Strike will get their attention.
Bottom line is that if we are relying on Republicans to put country over party...well...I wouldn't hold my breath.
