Sen. Rand Paul: It Makes No Sense For Republicans To Investigate Republicans

WASHINGTON Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Tuesday that probing the Trump administrations ties to Russia after the resignation of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn would be excessive, and that Republicans shouldnt be wasting time investigating members of their own party.
Paul, speaking on Fox News Kilmeade and Friends radio show, took issue with calls by fellow Senate Republicans, including Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), for a thorough investigation.
You know, I think that might be excessive, Paul said. I think that it looks like the president has handled the situation, and unless theres some kind of other evidence of malfeasance, this sounds like something that was internal White House politics, and it looks like the presidents handled it.

I just dont think its useful to be doing investigation after investigation, particularly of your own party, he said. Well never even get started with doing the things we need to do like repealing Obamacare if were spending our whole time having Republicans investigate Republicans. I think it makes no sense.

(15,438 posts)At least Rand Paul is honest about it and doesn't beat around the bush or play coy. He says exactly what Republicans think.
As I've been saying, this ain't your grandpa's Republican Party anymore.

(8,893 posts)I say that so often that it's hard to draw a line--but is there no awareness that we are ONE COUNTRY? What has happened to all the campaign rhetoric about "both sides of the aisle." As if our national security is less important than killing something that Obama created? Apparently so. Horrifying.

(10,539 posts)Thanks for admitting that you agree with partisan investigations.
Let me tell you something Rand, There will be an investigation and Trump and many others will be going down! You and your ilk such as McTurtle and Paul "Eddie Munster" Ryan should be tried for collusion, conspiracy, and high crimes! You are covering for traitors and cannot later say that you didn't know and never would have believed it possible.
The stakes are way too high to err on doing nothing! Your corrupt asses will be gone by either being voted out or taken out in cuffs, you decide which!!!

He's lied continuously for over a Year about not having any contact with the Russians, nor any of his staff. and now it comes out he's been in contact with them the entire campaign. He needs to be impeached, tried for Treason and HUNG by the neck until dead.

(4,229 posts)It took like 8 years for GW Bush to totally fuck up the country, and here Trump and the GOP are not even a month in.
Seriously, we got a president who is in WAY over his head but is too bull headed and paranoid to trust anybody who could help him.
There is a real question as far as whether he is either cooperating or being blackmailed by Russia or if they just used his presidency to put a lot of their guys near him in the admin.
Then the GOP congress is so fixated on reversing stuff Obama did but they can't figure out what he hell to do. They all got elected by spouting meaningless talk radio bullshit, and then all they did was oppose Obama for the last 8 years so they have no idea how to do anything. All the old but semi intelligent republicans we used to have are gone and have been run out save a few.
I keep questioning myself, "Am I just being partisan and believing fake news??" But I keep going over all the stuff trying to tell myself we've been thru it before but instead it just makes me way more worried.
We really needed Clinton to win. As a party the GOP has become totally incompetent.
Trump and the GOP are putting us in a worse death spiral than Bush, and it's not just that they are pursuing conservative things, it's they are incapable of running the country.

These hypocrite's were going to Impeach Clinton if she had won------------------when you have party that is more worried about the party and undermining the country, just to get there agenda, like taking out health care and privatizing schools, and when there is a "national security" issue being presented------------------then it's time to take to the streets, and demand an independent investigation-----------------now not tomorrow, but now (2/14/2017).

(13,960 posts)"I know I would get caught, what the very least, exposed the fact that libertarians offer no protection from the malice of billionaires. I would be exposed as someone who did not know, or worse did not care that the very billionaires I worship have corrupted even some of the stronger state governments, like the Russians who turned out to be run by a bunch of gangsters like every other corporation."
Notice that he said that they need to repeal Obama care, but not replace it, but then again, Mr. Paul has made no secret of the fact that is horrible is Trump is, he is firmly to trumps right, and that he wants to get rid of any state protection a citizen has. Of course, if Trump implodes we have yet another opportunity to make that stick to the Republicans. And with all due respect to Barack Obama, who truly does deserve praise for keeping America out of the well-deserved disaster, this time the folks trying to declare the second Civil War against the north need to learn a lesson, or be kept away from any sort of political power. This is absolutely no time for malice toward none, charity toward all, because the Confederacy never stopped fighting, and is that good old boy Rand Paul shows, morality and principles are expendable.
