MSNBC: High-Level Source Says 'Entire Phone Call' Between Flynn and Russia Devoted to Sanctions
Source: Mediaite

This morning on MSNBC, Katy Tur reported that she had been in discussions with a high-level source who stated it was hard to accept former National Security Adviser Michael Flynns excuse that he couldnt recall if he spoke about sanctions with the Russian ambassador.
Why is that? Because, as Tur noted, the source told her that one of the calls in December was almost entirely devoted to the sanctions that the Obama administration had just imposed on Russia.
The questions are many, Tur stated. A number of them surround just how much of a conversation did General Flynn have about Russian sanctions with the Russian ambassador. How much could he have possibly forgotten?
She continued, I was speaking with a high-level source last night who said they just dont understand how he could have forgotten the conversation because it was the subject of pretty much an entire phone call.

At most they will put on a show of investigating but they will find little to nothing to "justify" the investigation and you can also bet they will also use other tactics to stall the investigation so as to give most Repugnants that are under investigation time to destroy or bury anything truly incriminating.

(58,785 posts)never reach SCOTUS and are tried and appealed in the various jurisdictions at lower levels, complete with discovery, testimony, and so on. Anything to do with 45's administration will also include wall-to-wall press attendance.
Most of the inevitable appeals will end up in the Ninth Circuit Court, which just angered conservatives across the board by ruling to continue the block on the travel ban.
I also don't think we should assume Gorsuch would be corrupt. Like typical conservatives,he's certainly way too prone to kissing up and kicking down the socioeconomic ladder, but his reputation is not exactly sessions-ish.
In any case, given the people who apparently feel all that's left is to grab their knees, I thought this might be worth enlarging on.
Right now, the SCOTUS is 4-4, so any ties will be remanded back to the lower court verdict. With 16 of the past 24 years having a Democrat in the White House, almost every federal court either has majority Democratic appointees or is tied. And, that's despite Republicans doing their best to slow walk nominations under both Clinton and Obama.

The court of appeals said that Fox NEWS was entertainment and not news.

(26,824 posts)else "did" and by that I mean someone else in Congress and thats why they are stalling any investigation not because they are protecting Trump but because they are protecting themselves.
After all if it was only Trump they could easily remove him and put Pence in his place but if like I suspect its not Trump but rather some people higher up in Congress that have been dealing with Russia this entire time from things like helping Russia hack the DNC then they might very well be to scared to investigate or allow an investigation to take place since it could very well backfire and uncover their backroom dealings.

(4,655 posts)I can't believe that Flynn would be negotiating with the Russian ambassador on his own with no knowledge or instruction from anyone higher up in Trump's transition team.
I also think high level Republican members of congress are compromised as well as James Comey at the FBI and other key military and civilian positions.
Putin and the FSB have had 25 years to plan this and I'm sure their back up plans have back up plans.

(26,824 posts)I would agree as they would probably be alot happier with Pence as President but the fact is they are working to prevent an investigation and I doubt its being done to protect Trump.
watoos
(7,142 posts)but I am not convinced that Pence is innocent. There has been such an effort put forth to make him out as the victim. What if an investigation implicates Pence? There goes their president, and Ryan, from what I've heard doesn't want to be a fill in president, he wants to run in 2020.
cstanleytech
(26,824 posts)Mind you its possible Trump knew but due to the actions or I should say inaction of the Congressional Repugnants I lean more towards them being involved in this shit probably as part of a payment for services rendered to the Repugnants by Russia during the election.

He has been so pro-Putin, at great cost to his reputation, he went to a lot of effort to incriminate himself; how could he not be Flynn's spymaster?
cstanleytech
(26,824 posts)hes being manipulated by someone involved in this, it would of course have to be someone whos had access to him for atleast since he started his campaign to win the Repugnant nomination so if there is ever an actual investigation I would look there and follow it back.
I will even wager you that if such an investigation were to happen that wasnt controlled by the Repugnants that we would find that it all points to some high level Congressional Repugnants being involved on this.

(406 posts)45 called out Russians to leak her lost emails. Ghouliani was downright giddy about the coming "surprise" and messed up his denials and couldn't keep his story straight. Roger Stone's tweet in August about Podesta and in October about Wikileaks re:clinton (no matter what Ass says, I will never believe the leaks didn't come from Russia).
They've all been in contact on some level for a long time. With how brazen 45 is, and how above the law he thinks he is, I have no doubt he was involved. Now if we can get the repugs to get their thumbs out of their asses, that'd be great.

Better to release evidence to the investigating committees, occasional leaks to the world, bit by bit, week by week, month after month, until no matter how hard they try trumpsters can't avoid knowing it's happening and so that no matter how hard the GOP leaders run they are never able to snatch the last bit, get off the wheel, and run bury it.

But knowledge is power--we don't want to give it to the GOP before it's time to trot it out, and time is a huge factor in everything.
I'm afraid this glut of news every day is only spoiling us into being more unrealistic than usual. It took almost exactly 2 years from the Watergate break-in to Nixon resignation and most of the first year had long periods of silence.

(4,174 posts)Obviously the removal of the sanctions was to be an act of gratitude... if not a completion of an exchange for services rendered. While the sanctions hadn't been imposed previously, this may have been the first of many payouts the Russian Federation expected for their support... But support for what? What did 45 get in exchange for billions in sanction relief? What did he originally promise, if anything, to get the Russian Federation into a position where they felt comfortable overtly conducting "covert" negotiations while simultaneously making those who participated in the process "open to blackmail"? Why go through all of this, if they got nothing for it? And if they did, other than the election (which our experts say wasn't stolen), what could possibly be worth... well, treason for lack of a better word?
I don't think the question should be... what did 45 know and when did he know it... he knew everything. The question should be... what was traded in this deal... What did 45 get that was worth all this cloak and dagger bullshit? Did the Russian Federation actually steal the election for him? Did they prove their effectiveness in the primary races? Did they assure him... even in spite of his own apparent disbelief that it couldn't be done... did they assure him they could hand him the election? Does that explain why he's so hot to investigate the election... because he knows it was rigged but doesn't know how? It's been said he's already running in the next campaign... his Tweets about Mark Cuban revealed that reality. Is he looking for the manner in which the Russians were able to manipulate our election so he doesn't have to go back to his Russian handlers for one more term? It could also be possible that he just got played... they could have been feeding him bullshit and he may actually believe they stole the election for him or at least tried to do it in some way that left a residue. After all the pundits came back the election wasn't stolen.... removing sanctions that didn't exist before wouldn't seem like that big of a deal to 45 so paying out quickly and quietly (and on a secure line!!!!) is a win win... "Get to pay off the Russians and give a great big "Fuck You" to Obama and Hilary." Who knows... I'm spit-balling... But anyway...
Michael Flynn did not act on his own merits. He did not guarantee the Russian Federation a lessening of the sanctions on his own. That is an absurd suggestion. So, he was speaking for 45. It appears they were recklessly seizing an opportunity to repay the Russian Federation as fast as humanly possible. If this was a ploy to get our enemies to back off so we could go beat up and or shake down our friends, ok... if this was some super duper plan to defeat the terrorist by teaming up with Vlad the Impaler, ok... if this was part of a plot from a movie 45 really liked and thought would be fun to do in real life, ok sure... I don't agree with any of that but stupid isn't always criminal... but if this was a bribe payout, I think the most pressing question needs to be, what the fuck did he get and what was he originally prepared to trade for it?
