DREAMer detained by ICE moments after speaking at immigration rally

Source: Salon

When U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrived at her Jackson, Mississippi home earlier this month, 22-year-old Daniela Vargas barricaded herself inside a closet as the law enforcement officials searched every inch of her home for four hours. Vargas’ father and 26-year-old brother — both undocumented immigrants from Argentina — were eventually detained, but she was released after being briefly handcuffed by officers.

On Wednesday, ICE agents finally caught up with Daniela after she came out of hiding to speak at a press conference against the ramped up immigration raids order by President Donald Trump.

The Clarion-Ledger reported that the Vargas had just spoken Wednesday at an immigration press conference in front of Jackson City Hall and was returning home when ICE agents pulled her car over on the freeway.

“You know who we are, you know what we’re here for,” agents told Vargas, the Clarion-Ledger reported.

For many Trump voters, the fact that you are undocumented makes you a criminal, so they read such stories as a vindication of their support for Trump.

Perhaps will start camping out at schools and hospitals as part of a dragnet.

Home of unspeakable forms of torture, astoundingly evil brutality, and all sweetly blessed by Henry Kissinger, himself.

Will the people of our country be able to keep this from happening here? We're not off to a good start with this Resident.

Argentina! Mexico said 2 days ago THEY WILL NOT take deportees from other countries.

So these people will sit for months? years? in 'for profit' prisons waiting for their turn in front of the backlogged Immigration Judge. Because of Republican PROGROM, Those 3 people will cost the American taxpayers a million dollars or more to deport.

That's not even the costs to their family torn apart, they lose their home, possessions, jobs gone now and the local economy is a BIG loser too.

The only ones who 'win' are the Republican haters!,the "for profit" prison who will earn thousands of dollars to 'house' the 3. and the vultures who snatch up foreclosed homes/ 'abandoned' cars.

The above having happened before any of Drumpf's family got off the boat. So with no knowledge or concern about it, they were doomed to repeat it.

as Bostonian resistance to the so-called 'Fugitive Slave Act' which, among other things, required escaped slaves to be returned to their masters and required the federal government to enforce its measures. it was not kindly received in Boston, IIRC, and this flyer is just one example of how the citizens of Boston resisted.

I had relatives up in the Rochester/Buffalo area (including a great-grandfather) during that time (1850s). That was when Frederick Douglass was up there agitating against that law!

Here in Philadelphia, since the state of PA abolished slavery before the Constitution was ratified and George Washington became President, since the first U.S. capital was here, Washington had to truck his slaves back and forth across the Mason-Dixon line down to Virigina every 6 months so they wouldn't be set free.
