Former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, is publishing a new childrens book apparently inspired by Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
The picture book, titled She Persisted, is named after Warren refused to be silent and was cut off by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
It will reportedly showcase 13 inspiring American women, including Nellie Bly, Helen Keller, Harriet Tubman, and Sally Ride, and will be available for sale May 30.
Chelsea issued a statement:
I wrote this book for everyone whos ever wanted to speak up but has been told to quiet down, for everyone whos ever been made to feel less than. The 13 women in She Persisted all overcame adversity to help shape our countrysometimes through speaking out, sometimes by staying seated, sometimes by captivating an audience. With this book, I want to send a message to young readers around the countryand the worldthat persistence is power.

(172,759 posts)I'm glad it's not anything to do with elected office. This is a great way to educate and raise awareness.

I hope she does run for something, even if it's only for school board. Who else is there? We shouldn't expect that all the book writing, however great, or important, or inspiring as it may be, will be enough. It's not. Republicans will soon have Nikki Halley with all her 'foreign policy' experience to put up against our next female candidate. Americans are stupid enough to fall for it. Sadly, Sally Ride is not available.
