House Dems Warn GOP: Repeal Vote Will Be 'Tattooed To Their Foreheads'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By MATT SHUHAM Published MARCH 24, 2017, 11:17 AM EDT

House Democrats warned their Republican colleagues against voting for the American Health Care Act on Friday, pointing to the speed with which it was pushed through the chamber and its unpopularity in a recent poll.

“What is happening today is a lose-lose situation for the Republicans,” Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said of the legislation during a press conference with party leadership.

“It’s a lose for the American people, that’s for sure," she continued. "But the people who vote for this will have this vote tattooed to their foreheads as they go forward.”

House Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley (D-NY) added: “The adage, ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’? They may feel damned if they don’t. We believe they’ll be even more damned if they do.”

or else it will bleed over into next year's election season. Yes, they're banking on Americans' short attention span.

However long it takes, or whatever the outcome, we much make sure that we don't forget, and we don't let others forget either.

gerrymandered districts, over-representation of rural states, voter suppression of minorities, a nationwide propaganda system of rightist media, and low mid-term turnout by young voters will make them pretty comfortable with that tattoo.

it's not even the bill that will become the law. the Senate will write that.

I'm feeling pretty hopeless. I mean you have Sam Brownback getting re-elected after destroying their budget. The district drawing and voter suppression makes many feel safe, and sadly, they are.

the way it's usually done is to sacrifice a super-safe district to make 2 or more less-safe but still favorable districts
problem for them is, it's a lot easier for us to tip a couple of 5-point seats than a single 10-point seat

voter suppression is a much bigger issue for us, one we need to start working on 20 years ago before it's too late

Republicans have squandered many years, hundreds of hours & millions of dollars voting against ACA.

They always vote pro-Insurance Corporations and against Americans best interests.
