Spicer Says Hitler Didnt Use Chemical Weapons 'In The Way Assad Used Them' (VIDEO)
Source: TPM
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday that not even Adolf Hitler used chemical weapons. The remark was striking given the German ruler's infamous legacy of killing millions of Jews, many in gas chambers.
During his daily press briefing Tuesday, Spicer was asked why he thought Russia would drop its support for Syrian President Bashar Assad after an alleged poison gas attack last week, despite the decades-long relationship between the two nations.
I think a couple things. You look we didnt use chemical weapons in World War II, Spicer began. You had a someone as despicable as Hitler, who didn't even sink to using chemical weapons. So you have to, if you're Russia, ask yourself, is this a country that you and a regime that you want to align yourself with?
In fact, Hitler killed millions of innocent civilians, including German Jews, during World War II using poisons like Zyklon-B and carbon monoxide in concentration camps.

(7,723 posts)Asked to clarify his comment later in the briefing, Spicer said, "I think when you come to sarin gas, there was no he was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing.
There was not he brought them into the Holocaust centers, I understand that," he added. "But Im saying that in the way Assad used them, where he went into towns, dropped them down to innocent into the middle of towns. It was brought the use of it. And I appreciate the clarification there, that was not the intent.
Spicer later said in a statement: "In no way was I trying to lessen the horrendous nature of the Holocaust, however, I was trying to draw a contrast of the tactic of using airplanes to drop chemical weapons on innocent people."

If Ivanka is all powerful, how is he not gone. Could it be no one else is willing to be Trump's spokesperson. In this case, this is one of the few times where is trouble is not trying to defend something indefensible that Trump did --- BOTH comments are just on him. He should already have been fired for embarrassing a WH more than any previous WH spokesman ever did.

News flash: Hitler was worse than Assad. Hitler was worse than Saddam Hussein. Hitler was worse than Stalin. Maybe, just maybe, Pol Pot was as bad as Hitler. But there is no way possible to rehabilitate the historical Hitler, imo. 80 million "innocents" died in World War II.

"Never thought I would say this, but Sean Spicer should go back to talking about crowd size at the inauguration," added Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, a dig referencing the press secretary's rocky introduction to the White House press corps.

I am guessing that Bannon put out a memo with a talking point and Spicer mashed it up.
btw using "Hitler" in comparison with Russia is almost, not quite but almost, as bad as using Hitler in a comparison with Israel or Germany

Except that it didn't, it was, it was a failure, and they are both bad.
Hitler probably wins at being worst based on volume, but that's splitting hairs and doesn't fit their narrative.
Back to the point, did Russia help Trump win? (How could people that are such colossal fuckups win without help?)

(50,528 posts)Nor did Saddam consider the Kurds his people. This made the gassings okay in their eyes but not in the eyes of anyone else in the world.
As far as battlefield use of gas...Hitler had a chemical warfare program. The nerve gases Tabun and Sarin were accidentally invented by Bayer chemist Gerard Schroeder...Schroeder was an insecticide chemist, was trying to make a better insecticide, and invented something that killed people as easily as it did bugs. Hitler didn't use chemicals in Germany on the battlefield for three reasons: he didn't want to gas "his people," he was afraid of British retaliation (the Brits invented chemical warfare and had a huge program) and he'd been gassed himself during World War I.
None of which excuses Spicer's clear Godwin's Law violation.
