PHOENIX (AP) A federal appeals court has denied the latest request from former U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi for a new trial on corruption charges.
A three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday rejected the former Arizona congressman's arguments that his 2013 convictions should be set aside because the government didn't disclose some facts, including that the FBI told a key witness he may be paid in exchange for testimony.
The appeals court upheld a Tucson's federal judge's decision that while prosecutors misrepresented the key witness's financial stake, it would not have changed the trial outcome.
Renzi was released from federal prison in January after serving three years for corruption, money laundering and other charges.

flotsam
(3,268 posts)This is the republican vampire thing-he looks dead but as soon as darkness falls (IE:people forget) he would like to run for office again. And if he could just pull that stake out of his heart (beat the rap) he'll be running again. That's why it is important in this Russian scandal that every player gets staked through the heart. Remember we could easily have gotten Cheney and Rumsfeld during Watergate but we figured the shame was punishment enough. It never is enough with these bastards and that is why we hear from assholes like Oliver North and Newt Gingrich years after they should of exiled themselves from decent society.
not fooled
(5,801 posts)this beauty would have a good chance. The brain-dead "freedumb-lovin'" citizens who vote puke no matter what would see the -R and push the button, no questions asked.
and, re the photo above: he must have felt right at home next to fellow campaign finance corruption enthusiast John "Keating Five" McCain. Neither should ever be elected again.
