Ryan: Criticism Of GOP's O'Care Repeal Process Is 'A Bogus Attack' From Left

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Sunday claimed that concerns about the process of passing Republicans bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, which cleared the House last week in an iteration which has not been scored by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, are a bogus attack from the left.
A lot of your members have conceded they didnt read the bill. There wasnt a single committee hearing or committee markup on the finalized version of the bill. There wasnt a CBO analysis of this bill, George Stephanopoulos asked Ryan on ABCs This Week. So have you met your own standard here?
Yeah, I think this is kind of a bogus attack from the left. Let me say a couple of things, Ryan said. The bills been online for two months.
Not the final version, Stephanopoulos interjected. The final version was an amendment that was three pages long. It takes you 30 seconds to read, Ryan said.

Let Me Finish My Point: Ryan Flustered by Stephanopoulos Over Healthcare Bill Questions
by Alberto Luperon | 10:01 am, May 7th, 2017
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin) showed up on This Week on Sunday for what ended up being a testy debate over healthcare. Does the American Health Care Act hurt people with pre-existing conditions? Host George Stephanopoulos suggested it could, but his interjections aggravated the Speaker.
Under this bill, no matter what, you cannot be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition, Ryan said. Nor under this bill
But you can charge people more, Stephanopoulos suggested.
Let me finish my point, the Speaker said. You cant charge people more if they keep continuous coverage. The key of having a continuous coverage provision is to make sure people stay covered and move from one plan to the next if they want to. He said this would keep costs down, but Stephanopoulos suggested that people can lose coverage through no fault of their own.
Just let me finish my point, George, Ryan said. I was just getting there until you cut me off.
He pointed out the part of the bill concerning waivers for states that want to allow insurers to charge higher premiums for people with pre-existing conditions. The fix is the federally-funded pool for high-risk patients, Ryan said.

Some people are just too stupid or hate filled for the truth, and there's no reaching these Nazi like deplorables. I do think this will be a turning point for some former drumpf voters.

(6,286 posts)Does the CBO scoring occur automatically or does it have to be solicited? We all know they rushed this one through without scoring because the CBO eviscerated them on their first draft.
Will it be scored after the fact, even though the Senate does not appear to be using it as the springboard for their bill?

(23,065 posts)I think I've heard that the Senate has requested this information, or at least Schumer has and that the scoring is expected and will play a part in the new trumpcare bill.

(48,965 posts)The RepubliCON DontCare ChumpCare 3.0 act give insurance companies so many ways to drop people and to deny them coverage for preexisting conditions.
Change jobs (and benefits) and you are dropped because of your preexisting condition.
Change insurance companies and your preexisting condition denies you coverage.
Miss one payment by one day and you are dropped.
Make one small misstatement of fact on one form and you are dropped.
Violate one small clause of the lengthy fine print and you are dropped.
So many ways for companies to drop people. But it purposely hides and obscures the elephant:
The bill does not provide ways for people with preexisting conditions to get coverage if they don't already have it.
It is designed to lock people into their insurance companies so they can never leave or change.
It is fundamentally anti-competitive. On top of being vile and deleterious to people.
