Maine Democrat to take part in Trumps voter fraud probe

Source: Bangor Daily News

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap said Thursday he has been asked to serve on an election fraud commission that is being spearheaded by President Donald Trump.

The purpose of the Presidential Commission on Election Integrity, which will be chaired by Vice President Mike Pence, is to investigate Trump’s belief that there was widespread voter fraud in the November 2016 election. Trump announced in January that he would seek an investigation into voter fraud in the election, even though the consensus among state officials is that it is rare, according to Reuters.

Dunlap, who has been Maine’s secretary of state since 2013 and previously served in that role from 2005 to 2011, said Thursday he agrees that fraudulent voting, which he described as a person impersonating another voter, is rare.

“Local election officials here in Maine do a great job of running the election process,” Dunlap said. “My attitude [about serving on this commission] is that if you’re not at the table, you’re on it.”

No Democrat should be in the same building as that 'commission,' whose findings and recommendations are already pre-ordained. It's headed up by two of Trump's arch-cronies--Kobach and Pence.

commission. That's what matters.

If he dissents, it will still be the "findings of a bipartisan commission" used to disenfranchise people.

Kris Kobach will be writing the Commission's findings. Whaddya think he's going to say?

This commission exists for the sole purpose of validating the worst of the worst of GOP talking points and voter suppression. Democrats should not participate in evil.

9. What do you think he will accomplish by letting Tr*mp use his name as a fig leaf

to legitimize this fraud?

Is he so naïve to think that Kobach and Pence will take what he says into consideration, or that they will engage in even a halfways honest attempt to discuss the subject?

Does he think he will have any role but to be on group emails and to have his name attached to this fraud?

He's being played. And its' obvious he's being played.

There is NO evidence of voter fraud.

However, there IS widespread evidence of election fraud by repubs. THAT is what should be investigated.
