Former Employees of Donald Trump Say They Saw Him Tape Conversations

Source: The Wall Street Journal

A tweet from President Donald Trump on Friday suggesting that he might have taped phone conversations from the White House made waves in Washington, but some former employees and a former associate said it wasn’t a surprise to them that he would mention taped conversations.

As a businessman, Mr. Trump sometimes taped phone conversations with associates and others from his Trump Tower office in New York, according to three people who say they have direct knowledge of the recordings.

Mr. Trump had one or more recording devices that he used to tape his phone calls from his office, the three people said. All are former high-level employees who worked for Mr. Trump over a span of three decades. They said they saw devices in use recording phone calls.

A fourth person said he knew that Mr. Trump had recorded a phone conversation with him because it was later entered into evidence in a lawsuit.

And, of course, some were "accidentally" erased. 18 minutes - Rose Mary Woods.

legal for the president to do so and imo its prudent as well because the president might need to make someone aware of a deal they made with another politician and the exact wording of it.
As for Comey I suspect any tape he has on Comey will turn out to have nothing important on it and instead it will simply be Trump suffering from another delusional episode like when he accused President Obama of wiretapping him.

is ok legally since its still legal to secretly record private conversations in D.C. provided you are one of the parties involved in the conversation.
I know, it surprised me to as I thought that after Nixon they might have changed the law but they didnt.

8. Supposedly Comey has said "bring on the tapes" which means Comey is confident in what he said...

11. Trump can just have his lawyers listen to the tapes.

Then they can assure us that everything Trump says about the conversation is correct and any disagreements between Trump and Comey about the conversations have to be decided in Trump’s favor. Trump can then wave this proclamation from his lawyers around to definitively settle any arguments. The media, of course, will give Trump air-time to so he can read his lawyers’ letter to the public.
