UN Ambassador Defends Comey Firing: Trump Is 'The CEO Of The Country'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By ESME CRIBB Published MAY 14, 2017 12:20 PM

United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley on Sunday defended President Donald Trump’s decision to abruptly fire James Comey as director of the FBI by comparing the United States to a corporation with Trump as its chief executive.

“The President is the CEO of the country. He can hire and fire whoever he wants,” Haley said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Pressed on the timing and rationale behind Trump’s decision, Haley said that it’s “for everybody else to decide” whether there were “better ways” for Trump to fire Comey.

“I think that the reason people are uncomfortable is because he acts,” she said. “He doesn’t talk with a bunch of people about it before, he just acts.”

Countries are not businesses. CEOs can fire whom they want but presidents have to follow the law. While Trump could legally fire Comey, the fact that he did so while his campaign was under investigation raises reasonable suspicion that his motive was, to say the least, questionable. Haley might want to read up on Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre before shooting off her dumb mouth again.

a CEO is expected to be beholden to the shareholders.

That would be US.

And, unfortunately, unlike a CEO of a corporation, there is no provision where a majority of stockholders can vote the board out at will.

Let them live out their dystopian view together, away from the rest of us.

They go with only the clothes on their back. No assets of any kind. No trade of any kind with anyone. We can place cameras around the island and watch their progress - they can be the real Survivor. And then the last person standing gets fed to the sharks.

Too much?

If you gave them limited assets and trade, they would still fail.

The loudest voices for the "country is a business" bullshit are already rich or are stealing their way to wealth. They have no concept of how to actually make money by adding value.

So, Nikki, before he pushes that big red button, is he going to talk to a bunch of people about it, or is he going to 'just act'?!?? It might make a small difference in your life, not to mention the lives of a few billion other people.

fucking morons that thinks our precious country, founded in freedom, would be better served being run like a business?

Where do these treacherous morons get this incredibly stupid notion????

CEO! WTF?

No, he is President of the United States of America! (Not by my choice indeed!)

If questioned, i'll bet "Fearless Leader" would be hard pressed to name the three branches of government.

We have a constitution, in which our system of government is clearly outlined, and it is not *Rump Corporation!

Based on his business history, litigation, bankruptcies, lying, bribery, blackmailing, defamation of good people etc...... if our country is run like one of HIS businesses, we and our constitutional freedoms are surely in peril!

I guess there is a yuge number of "*Rump Holsters" pretending to run our country.....
