Screaming overheard in Cabinet Room meeting between Spicer, Bannon and Sanders after Russia intel

Source: Raw Story

Reporters at the White House on Monday overheard yelling between White House press secretary Sean Spicer, chief White House counsel Steve Bannon, deputy White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and White House Communications Director Michale Dubke, prompting staffers to turn up TV’s to drown out the back-and-forth.

According to BuzzFeed’s Adrian Carrasquillo, the officials walked into the Cabinet Room of the White House shortly after news broke that Donald Trump revealed classified information to the Russian ambassador and Russian foreign minister during a closed-door meeting last week.

Shortly after the meeting, Sanders told the press corps the White House would not comment on the report further. So far, the administration has offered only a tepid denial of the Washington Post report. During an emergency press conference Monday, National Security Adviser HR McMaster insisted, “The story that came out tonight as reported, is false.”

He added the president never revealed sources or methods, but did not address the issue of revealing classified information.

...in order to compromise that source. The nature of the classified intelligence may be enough to uncloak one or more sources.

Here's an interesting example: During WWII the Brits had cracked the German codes, and knew that a massive German air raid was planned to hit the historic city of Coventry. However, the British leadership (Churchill) decided that the code breaking ability would be compromised if the citizens of Coventry were warned and the city evacuated beforehand. So no warning was given and the city was devastated with many deaths and casualties. A Brit I met in the '70's mentioned the matter, and after some discussion, said, "Yes, Churchill was a bastard, but then we needed one".

As it turned out, however, I later learned, the German leadership didn't pay much attention to reports from their informants in England, and couldn't believe that their codes had been broken, and had Coventry been warned it probably would not have compromised the code breaking.

Well, it's an interesting story and might have some similarity to this latest. We do seem to have a bastard in the White House these days, the only problem is, that he's giving away the keys to the kingdom for basically nothing. I guess he could be the anti-Churchill.

No one with the talent and brains to be effective should want to board the S.S. Dump now that it's a sinking ship.

Early on in this maladmin, you could attribute working for him to the glamor of the WH and the opportunity to be close to puke power, well if you're a soulless asshole. But NOW? Who will want to work for this guy?

(snip)
National Security Adviser HR McMaster stood on a driveway outside the White House on Monday evening and tried to explain a delicate situation to journalists.
(snip)

Not long afterwards, reporters gathered in a hallway of the West Wing, hoping to find out more about what had happened. While we were standing there, senior members of the White House staff walked quickly past us and filed into a meeting room.

One of my colleagues said he had seen Stephen Bannon, the president's senior adviser, and Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, walk into the room.

Behind closed doors, the officials started speaking in loud voices, and a moment later someone turned up the volume on a television, so that we couldn't hear what was going on inside the room.
